∎ BACKGROUND: Cowater International Inc. is implementing a five-year (2021-25) Project titled "Empowering Women through Professionalization of the Nursing Sector in Bangladesh (ProNurse)", funded by Global Affairs Canada. The Project will deliver on Canada`s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) priorities of gender equality, empowerment of women, and human dignity for the nursing profession in Bangladesh. Working under the overall guidance of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), ProNurse is jointly working with Director General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) and Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC). The project aims to enhance the voice and influence of women in the health sector in Bangladesh, through the empowerment and professionalization of female nurses, both in public and private sector. The Project`s expected results include: i) improved quality of gender-responsive education for female nurses in both public and private sectors in Bangladesh; ii) improved performance and professional status of female nurses in Bangladesh; and iii) improved enabling environment for female nurses for their increased participation in the health sector in Bangladesh.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Training officer, reporting to the National Gender Equality Specialist, located in Dhaka, will be responsible for the implementation and achievement of the selected Outputs.
∎ S/he will work closely with the National Gender Equality Specialist in implementing the training or capacity building activities.
∎ S/he will closely work with other outputs leads for assessing the need of GE issues and provide technical support for their work.
∎ Also, S/he will provide technical advice and direction to Gender cell other team members to the strengthening capacity building of Nurses and developing nurse champions and ambassadors in Bangladesh.
∎ Also, she/ he will promote Gender responsiveness in overall training activities.
∎ Assist NGEA for drafting ToR/ concept note, prepare draft presentation and also responsible for report preparation.
∎ Specific responsibility:
∎ Develop and adapt training modules/contents/ materials based on TNA and consultation findings of the project
∎ Provide technical assistance to organize orientation workshops for Nurse Champions and ambassadors with the guidance of NGEA and AGES.
∎ Provide training to nurses and selected Ambassadors/ Champions on advocacy
∎ Organize training/ workshops/ orientation for internal staff on GE and Workplace safety & security issues
∎ Develop fact sheet on workplace safety issues based on collected information and indicator data
∎ Prepare workshops/ training/ orientation budget
∎ Ensure all forms of logistics
∎ Active engagement in workshops/ meeting and training sessions
∎ Support DGNM and other nursing institute to organize Gender Responsive training/ orientation sessions
∎ Prepare report of different training / workshops, meeting as per the need
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 8 years of experience of different Gender Equality and Women Empowerment program in Bangladesh;
∎ Experience in health sectors including media and communication related work
∎ Experience to assess Training need assessment, develop training module, drafting concept note, ToR etc.
∎ Understanding of the nursing profession in country and in gender perspectives
∎ Well experienced in conducting gender related trainings, has undergone a Training of Trainees (TOT) course, and has conducted TOTs workshops
∎ Essential Skills:
∎ High quality technical knowledge and demonstrated experience on Gender Equality and social inclusion issues in different media
∎ Fluency in English and Bengali;
∎ Presentation and facilitation skills
∎ Mastery of computer Internet, Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) etc.
