Education:

Master's degree in Communication and Journalism, public relations or relevant field. Degree/ any studies on Disaster Management, Climate Change, or a related field will be added value to this position.

Additional Requirements:
  • Age At least 18 years
  • 3–5 years of experience in Communication, visibility knowledge management, preferably in project on Disaster Risk Reduction, anticipatory action (Forecast –based Action/Forecast-based Financing), climate change, humanitarian response, or development sectors.

  • Experience of using relevant device, equipment (professional camera) and software such as adobe illustrator, Photoshop etc.

  • Demonstrated experience producing brochure, case story, policy briefs, one pager and other materials required for advocacy.

  • Experience working with, journalist, media and government ministries in Bangladesh.

  • Familiarity with anticipatory action, early warning systems, or disaster risk financing is a strong asset.

  • Strong understanding of disaster management frameworks and national DRR policies.

  • Ability to analyze scientific, technical, or climate-related data for advocacy purposes.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and negotiation skills in both Bengali and English.

  • Ability to manage multi-stakeholder processes with diplomacy and tact.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strategic and analytical thinking.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities & Context:

OBJECTIVE 1: Implement communications, programs knowledge management, and data reporting to promotes the integration of anticipatory action into key government policies, frameworks, and operational mechanisms. (60%)

  • Lead the planning, designing and implementation of communication strategy and high quality visibility of PROTHISTHA project in coordination with ACF and other Consortium Partners aligning advocacy strategy and project goals.

  • Utilize project data and information to produce high quality knowledge products such as booklet, leaflet, brochure, case stories/ case studies, photo stories, video documentary, article, workshop banner, x-banner, festoon etc

  • Effectively disseminate project outcomes, achievements, and lessons learned to relevant stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with media and journalist to ensure visibility of project achievements at national and international lives.

  • Establish a knowledge database of PROTHISHA project with a view to utilize for policy advocacy.

  • Maintain website, social media to disseminate project impacts

  • Develop and update information education and communication materials for project beneficiaries and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and facilitate training, awareness session, workshops on communications, visibility and knowledge management.

  • Assist and contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation process through sharing project reports and other information including communications, visibility and knowledge products.

  • Assist Program Manager and other team members in data collection, indicator tracking, analysis for timely reporting and other M&E activities.

OBJECTIVE 2 : Utilize visibility, knowledge products and communication with a view to generate evidence for anticipatory action mainstreaming in government system (20%)

  • Work with technical teams to translate scientific data, risk modelling, and impact studies into accessible knowledge products.

  • In coordination with project team, particularly advocacy team, produce high-quality policy briefs, position papers, guidance notes, talking points, and donor briefing documents.

  • Ensure timely dissemination evidence and knowledge products to relevant stakeholders.

OBJECTIVE 3 : Uphold organization policies and cross cutting issues(10%)

  • Adhere key organization policies such as gender policy, safe guarding policies, data protection policy, code and conduct, do no harm principles.

  • Ensure accountability to project beneficiaries and affected population

  • Ensure team building principles with the project team as well as partners project team

  • Uphold localization principle through with local partners and stakeholder

  • Uphold partnership principles while working with local partners

OBJECTIVE 5 : Any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor(10%)

Objective 6: Proactively support ACFs commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity

  • Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary

  • Implement all work related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, taking into account the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries

  • Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities

  • Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committee;

  • Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
