Experience:

• 3 to 5 years
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO, Micro-Credit

• Diploma in Civil

• Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized Diploma Engineering Institute of Bangladesh

• Professional certification or registration with a recognized engineering body is preferred.

Age: 45 years (as on 31.03.2026) but flexible for experienced candidates.

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering works.

• Experience in urban slum upgrading, shelter, or WASH infrastructure projects.

• Prior experience working with NGOs/INGOs or donor-funded projects (preferably climate or resilience-focused).

• Experience in climate-resilient construction (flood-resistant, heat-resilient designs) is highly desirable.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and quality control.

• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp).

• Understanding of WASH standards and public health engineering.

• Good project management and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work in challenging slum environments.

• Strong communication and community engagement skills.

• Fluency in Bangla and working knowledge of English.

Caritas Bangladesh (CB) is a national and non-profit development organization operating in Bangladesh since 1967. It has its Central Office in Dhaka and eight Regional Offices in Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Sylhet. Caritas Bangladesh (CB), Rajshahi Region, is inviting applications from qualified candidates for immediate appointment to the following positions under the Building Resilient and Inclusive City (BRIC) project.

The details of the positions including key job responsibilities, educational qualification and other qualities /competency required for the above positions are given below for your information.

Technical Design & Planning

• Prepare designs, drawings, BOQs, and cost estimates for climate-resilient housing and WASH facilities (latrines, drainage, bathing place, water supply systems) comply with safety and safeguarding standards.

• Ensure designs are suitable for slum contexts (limited space, high density, flood/heat risks) and Gender Responsive.

• Integrate climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable approaches in infrastructure development in slum areas.

2. Infrastructure development / Construction Supervision

• Oversee all types of construction, installation, construction and repairing of safe drinking water systems, hygienic sanitation facilities, climate resilience shelter and drainage systems in the targeted slums.

• Ensure quality control, compliance with standards, and timely completion.

• Conduct regular site visits and provide technical guidance to contractors and field staff.

• Ensure gender-sensitive, inclusive, and disability-friendly designs.

3. Community Engagement

• Work with communities to ensure participatory planning and ownership.

• Provide technical input during community consultations and awareness sessions.

• Facilitate formation and strengthening of community-based O&M.

• Promote community ownership for sustainability of infrastructure.

• Train community groups on basic maintenance, hygiene, and minor repair.

• Ensure inclusion of women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups in committees.

4. Procurement & Contractor Management

• Prepare technical specifications for procurement.

• Support contractor selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring.

5. Monitoring & Reporting

• Maintain records of construction progress and quality assurance.

• Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for donors.

• Support monitoring and evaluation processes.

7. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure adherence to national building codes, environmental standards, and donor guidelines.

• Promote occupational health and safety measures at construction sites.

8. Capacity building of community:

• To develop training modules for shelter construction and awareness IEC materials for WASH

• Train the local masons and carpenters and community people on WASH

• Salary: BDT 45,000 (Consolidated) per month.
