Job Summary:
The Store In-Charge / Storekeeper is responsible for managing and controlling all materials and equipment required for civil construction projects. This role ensures timely availability of materials, maintains accurate stock records, implements inventory control measures, and supports site operations by coordinating with procurement and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Management
Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming materials and supplies for construction work.
Ensure proper documentation of material receipts, issues, and transfers.
Maintain updated stock registers (manual and digital) for all civil, mechanical, and electrical items.
Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
2. Inventory Control
Implement inventory management systems to prevent stockouts and overstocking.
Track consumption patterns and provide timely reports to the procurement and project teams.
Maintain reorder levels and coordinate for timely replenishment of critical materials.
3. Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain GRN (Goods Receipt Notes), MRN (Material Receipt Notes), Issue Slips, and other relevant records.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly stock and material consumption reports.
Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation.
4. Coordination
Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Managers, and Procurement teams for material planning and requirements.
Liaise with vendors, transporters, and suppliers for timely delivery and quality checks.
Ensure proper communication regarding material shortages, rejections, or damages.
5. Compliance & Safety
Ensure proper storage conditions for cement, steel, aggregates, paints, and other construction materials.
Enforce site safety, housekeeping, and material handling protocols.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for material management.
6. Equipment & Tools Management
Maintain records of tools, machinery, and consumables issued to workers or subcontractors.
Schedule regular maintenance and calibration of site tools and equipment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Supply Chain / Materials Management
Certification in Inventory or Warehouse Management (preferred)
Experience:
5–7 years of experience as Store Keeper / Store In-Charge in a civil construction or real estate company.
Hands-on experience with ERP / inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Tally, MS Excel).
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, fittings, etc.)
Proficiency in MS Excel, stock management tools, and documentation.
Understanding of quality control and safety standards.
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Integrity, accountability, and ability to work independently.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Accuracy of stock records and reports.
Reduction in material wastage and pilferage.
Timely material availability for project progress.
Compliance with audit and safety standards.
Effective coordination between site and procurement teams.
