Job Responsibilities:

1. Sample Collection & Patient Handling

• Greet patients warmly and explain the sampling procedure to make them comfortable.

• Collect patient samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.) efficiently and painlessly.

• Label all sample tubes and containers correctly immediately after collection.

• Ensure strict verification of patient identity before sample collection.

2. Laboratory Testing & Analysis

• Prepare slides, reagents, and specimens for microscopic or machine analysis.

• Operate laboratory instruments (microscope, auto-analyzer, centrifuge, etc.) safely.

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests as per instructions.

• Prioritize and process emergency (STAT) samples quickly.

• Run daily Quality Control (QC) tests before processing patient samples to maintain accuracy.

3. Documentation & Reporting

• Enter patient data and test results accurately into the lab software (LIMS).

• Maintain physical lab registers, logbooks, and daily records properly.

• Immediately report any critical or abnormal test results to the Lab In-Charge.

• Avoid contamination and ensure absolute accuracy in report data.

4. Equipment & Inventory Support

• Clean and maintain lab equipment and workbenches after daily use.

• Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunction to the In-Charge immediately.

• Keep track of daily consumable usage and inform the In-Charge before reagents or supplies run out.

5. Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

• Strictly follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions from the Lab In-Charge.

• Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like gloves, masks, and lab coats.

• Follow biosafety guidelines and ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.

• Maintain a highly clean, organized, and hygienic workspace.
