Job Context:
∎ The Senior Systems Engineer`s role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organisational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising network infrastructure, servers, virtualisation, software, software as services and associated operating systems.
∎ This role requires in-depth technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
∎ The Senior Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximise the benefit of IT systems investments.
∎ This individual will also mentor and guide the junior colleagues.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ STRATEGY & PLANNING
∎ Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth, reliable software and systems operation to fulfil business objectives and processes.
∎ Work with executive team members and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
∎ Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
∎ Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
∎ Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
∎ OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
∎ Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
∎ Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
∎ Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
∎ Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
∎ NETWORK DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE:
∎ Develop and maintain the network architecture, including LAN, WAN, and Data Centre networks.
∎ Design scalable and resilient network solutions to meet business requirements.
∎ Implement and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
∎ NETWORK IMPLEMENTATION:
∎ Deploy, configure, and manage network hardware and software components such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless infrastructure.
∎ Ensure proper network segmentation and security measures are in place.
∎ Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure and implement network solutions.
∎ NETWORK MONITORING AND PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION:
∎ Implement network monitoring tools and processes to proactively identify and address performance issues.
∎ Analyse network traffic patterns and optimise network performance for maximum efficiency.
∎ Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents and outages promptly.
∎ SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE:
∎ Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices.
∎ Stay updated with emerging security threats and protect the network against them.
∎ Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to network security.
∎ CAPACITY PLANNING:
∎ Evaluate network capacity and plan for future growth.
∎ Upgrade network infrastructure components as needed to accommodate increasing demands.
∎ COLLABORATION AND DOCUMENTATION:
∎ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their networking requirements and provide technical guidance.
∎ Create and maintain documentation related to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
∎ Maintain detailed network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
∎ TROUBLESHOOTING AND SUPPORT:
∎ Provide advanced technical support to resolve complex network issues.
∎ Participate in on-call rotation to address network emergencies outside regular business hours.
∎ TRAINING AND MENTORSHIP:
∎ Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
∎ Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
∎ Keep abreast of industry trends and share knowledge with the team.

∎ The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Microsoft Azure ADDS, Microsoft Azure cloud, Microsoft SharePoint, Data center, Database management System, ERP Implementation, Network Administration, Network Security, IT security.

∎ Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers).
∎ Hardware, software and networking protocols are utilised in LAN, WAN and related data communication systems, including fibre optics and peripheral equipment.
∎ Thorough LAN switch and router management knowledge via telnet and web interfaces.
∎ Knowledge of router protocols and setup thereof.
∎ Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP communication.
∎ Knowledge of VLAN technology.
∎ Experience with basic Cisco IOS commands.
∎ VPN connectivity troubleshooting and configuration (Cisco, MikroTik, OpenVPN, IPSec).
∎ Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Spyware, and other security-related technologies.
∎ Experience with virtualisation and containerisation (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box).
∎ Competency in network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, Wireshark).
∎ Basic Cloud experience, preferably in Microsoft Azure, AWS
∎ Proven working experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX / Linux-based environments.
∎ Effective team leader and coordinator.
∎ Exceptional problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
