Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context :

To manage and execute laboratory testing, sample development, and process control for knitted fabrics, ensuring quality standards, buyer requirements, and production feasibility are met.

Key Responsibilities

Lab & Testing Operations

• Conduct physical and performance tests for knitted fabrics (GSM, shrinkage, spirality, pilling, color fastness, bursting strength, etc.).

• Ensure all testing is carried out as per buyer standards, ISO, AATCC, or ASTM methods.

• Maintain accurate lab test records, reports, and approvals.

• Monitor calibration and proper functioning of lab testing equipment.

Sample Development

• Coordinate with knitting, dyeing, and finishing teams for fabric sample development.

• Develop new fabric qualities, structures, and blends as per buyer or R&D requirements.

• Analyze fabric construction, yarn count, stitch length, and machine settings.

• Approve fabric samples before bulk production.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Identify quality issues related to knitting and suggest corrective actions.

• Support production teams in resolving fabric defects (holes, barre, uneven GSM, torque, etc.).

• Ensure compliance with buyer technical specifications and internal quality standards.

• Participate in internal and external audits as required.

Coordination & Communication

• Communicate test results and technical feedback to merchandising and production teams.

• Coordinate with third-party labs when external testing is required.

• Provide technical support during buyer visits and fabric approvals.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare technical reports, lab test summaries, and fabric approval documents.

• Maintain fabric development files and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
