Responsibilities & Context:
Counselling Students: It is the responsibility of study abroad counsellors to advise students as they navigate the process of studying abroad. This includes advising students on the many program alternatives, eligibility requirements, application procedures, financial assistance, and other relevant topics.
Reviewing Applications: Study abroad counsellors are responsible for reviewing over student applications and determining whether or not students meet the requirements to participate in study abroad programs. Additionally, they could offer assistance to students in filling out application forms, composing essays, and gathering the necessary evidence.
Promoting study abroad programs: Counsellors are tasked with marketing and promoting study abroad programs to students, professors, and staff using a variety of communication channels. These outlets include social media, websites, and information sessions.
Monitoring student progress: While students are participating in study abroad programs, counsellors should monitor the academic progress of students, offer input to faculty members, and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the program.
