Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Scientific Officer – Bull Station to oversee animal health management, semen production, laboratory quality control, and overall farm biosecurity operations. The position requires strong veterinary expertise, hands-on technical experience in AI laboratory functions, and effective coordination with farm and laboratory teams to ensure optimal productivity and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor daily animal health conditions and implement vaccination and deworming programs as per guidelines.
Perform minor and major surgical procedures and follow approved treatment protocols under supervision.
Oversee overall management of bulls, milking cows, calves, and heifers, including feeding, hygiene, heat detection, and health monitoring.
Monitor reproductive performance and herd productivity.
Supervise bull shed supervisors and farm labor activities.
Conduct bull semen collection and ensure quality standards.
Analyze individual semen production and evaluate the lifetime productivity of bulls.
Manage semen processing, preservation, quality assurance, and distribution to designated locations.
Certify semen quality at laboratory and field levels.
Prepare, maintain, and analyze QC reports of all incoming AI laboratory materials and submit to the higher authority.
Maintain AI laboratory registers, including bull register, semen collection and evaluation register, product check register, temperature and humidity register, and health observation register.
Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Supervise farm biosecurity control measures.
Conduct zoonotic disease screening and testing, including brucellosis, TB, Campylobacter spp., and trichomoniasis.
Assist in the preparation of the Bull Profile and submission to DLS for approval.
