Job Responsibilities
· Conducting thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and diagnostic tests.
· Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients under the surgeon’s care.
· Performing surgical procedures, both elective and emergency, as required.
· Monitoring post-operative care and ensuring proper recovery.
· Providing follow-up care for surgical patients.
· Attending to patients in the hospital wards, ICU, or emergency department.
· Participating in daily rounds and reviewing patients' progress.
· Administering medication and coordinating care with other specialists or departments as needed.
· Keeping detailed records of patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and surgeries.
· Assisting senior surgeons during surgeries and learning from their techniques.
· Performing surgeries independently under supervision for less complex procedures.
· Ensuring the sterility of the operating room and adherence to safety protocols.
· Teaching and mentoring junior medical staff, interns, and medical students.
· Staying updated with the latest advancements in surgical techniques, medical practices, and procedures.
· Attending medical seminars, workshops, and continuing education programs.
· Coordinating with other healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and diagnostic specialists.
· Communicating effectively with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and post-surgical care.
· Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive patient care.
· Ensuring proper documentation of surgeries, patient records, and other administrative tasks.
· Managing and maintaining the inventory of medical supplies and equipment in the surgical department.
· Participating in departmental meetings and audits to discuss patient outcomes and operational improvements.
· Responding to surgical emergencies and trauma cases.
· Providing immediate surgical intervention when necessary and ensuring critical care post-surgery.
· Ensuring adherence to hospital policies, medical protocols, and ethical guidelines.
· Contributing to the improvement of surgical practices and patient outcomes
