Experience:
Diploma/Bachelor degree in Engineering in EEE or Mechanical or Biomedical or related technical field.
Specialized training in automated optical laboratory systems preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in optical lab operations.
At least 2 years in supervisory or in-charge role preferred.
Experience with automated optical lab machines and software systems is mandatory.
Required Technical Skills

The Automated Optical Lab Operation In-Charge is responsible for supervising and managing all automated optical laboratory operations including lens processing, machine operation, quality control, manpower supervision, workflow management, and maintenance coordination. The role ensures timely and accurate production of ophthalmic lenses and spectacles using automated optical laboratory systems while maintaining international quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Automated Optical Lab Operations
Supervise daily automated lens processing activities.
Operate and monitor auto-edging, blocking, polishing, drilling, tracing, coating, and finishing machines.
Ensure proper calibration and performance of automated optical lab equipment.
Monitor production workflow to achieve daily targets and delivery timelines.
Handle progressive, bifocal, single vision, high-index, and specialty lens processing.
2. Quality Control & Assurance
Ensure accuracy of lens power, axis, PD, prism, fitting height, and frame alignment.
Conduct final quality inspections before delivery.
Minimize remake and rejection rates.
Implement quality assurance protocols and SOP compliance.
Maintain international optical standards for lens finishing and fitting.
3. Team Supervision
Supervise optical lab operators, technicians, helpers, and support staff.
Prepare duty rosters and allocate work responsibilities.
Train staff on machine operation, safety, productivity, and quality standards.
Monitor staff discipline and performance.
4. Machine & Equipment Management
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for automated lab machines.
Troubleshoot minor operational machine issues.
Liaise with vendors/service engineers for repairs and AMC support.
Ensure proper use of generators, UPS, compressors, and related lab utilities.
5. Inventory & Production Management
Monitor inventory of lenses, consumables, tools, chemicals, and accessories.
Maintain records of production, wastage, rejected jobs, and machine downtime.
Coordinate with procurement for stock replenishment.
Reduce operational wastage and improve cost efficiency.
6. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, optical sales teams, and branches.
Ensure urgent and VIP orders are processed on priority basis.
Communicate delivery timelines and technical issues effectively.
7. Safety & Compliance
Ensure workplace safety standards within the optical laboratory.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab area.
Follow infection prevention and occupational safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with company policies and operational SOPs.
