Responsibilities & Context: Akij Resource is seeking dynamic and motivated professionals to join its procurement team and lead initiatives for one of its key business units, Akij Building Solutions Ltd. (ABSL). Candidates with extensive experience in procurement within the Asphalt industry are highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop effective and cost-efficient procurement strategies for sourcing materials essential to the business.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current suppliers while actively identifying and assessing new vendors.
- Continuously evaluate purchasing operations, seeking opportunities to enhance product quality and improve delivery timelines.
- Regularly communicate with management regarding the smooth flow of goods and services that impact production efficiency.
- Conduct cost analyses and establish benchmarks to drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement risk management procedures to minimize potential losses due to product shortages.
- Lead and supervise the purchasing team, ensuring tasks are appropriately delegated across departments.
- Collaborate closely with the legal department to ensure contracts and terms are favorable and compliant.
- Plan procurement activities in alignment with the company’s budget.
- Oversee all commercial activities, including issuance of PIs, L/C openings, amendments, shipments, negotiations, payments, and releases, primarily through overseas communication via phone and email.
- Maintain effective coordination with relevant agencies, trade bodies, banks, shipping lines, C&F agents, transport agents, insurance companies, and Customs & VAT departments.
- Monitor import L/C processes, ensuring the correct HS code is applied for timely customs clearance and cost savings.
