Job Context:
∎ CSF Global is an international NGO engaged in advancing research and services for persons with disabilities. CSF Global Cerebral Palsy (CP) Program is a collaborative program between the CSF Global (www.csf-global.org), the Asian Institute of Disability and Development (www.disabilityasia.org), Bangladesh, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA), the University of Sydney and Central Queensland University, Australia. This program supports world-class research and service delivery projects in Bangladesh. The overall aim of this program is to conduct translational research to generate novel knowledge on CP and to develop comprehensive service delivery model for children with CP in rural Bangladesh.
∎ Reporting operationally to the Program Manager, and professionally to the Senior Program Manager (Dr Israt Jahan, PhD), the Nutritionist (Clinical Research) will contribute to several funded projects on nutritional epidemiology and intervention of children with CP in rural Bangladesh and other low- and middle-income countries. The clinical role would include assessment, development, monitoring and evaluation of the nutritional management of children with CP. Educating caregivers of children with disabilities on nutritional issues, healthy eating habits, and feeding behavior would be an important part of this role. The Nutritionist (Clinical Research) will have opportunities to contribute to research by contributing to all aspects of current and future research projects through data collection, analysis, report writing and peer-reviewed publications.
∎ Job Location:
∎ Shahjadpur subdistrict of the Sirajganj district with regular field visits.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Nutritionist (Clinical Research) is a key member of the team and will have the following key
∎ responsibilities:
∎ Nutritional assessment of children with CP registered into the Bangladesh Cerebral Palsy Register (BCPR)
∎ Evaluate the dietary history and assessment form completed by the field team as part of this project
∎ Develop a nutritional management plan for each child included in the study following a standard protocol
∎ Provide counselling to the mothers or primary caregivers of children with CP on nutrition issues, healthy eating habits, and compliance with the provided nutrition management plan
∎ Conduct educational sessions for correct feeding behaviour for children with CP Evaluate and monitor the effects of the diet chart, management plans and practices and make changes as needed
∎ Promote healthy lifestyles by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases
∎ Prepare educational materials on healthy food choices and feeding behavior for children with CP
∎ Document and monitor the growth and nutritional status of children with CP throughout the project period
∎ Contribute to ongoing research projects of CSF Global by actively participating in medical assessment camps, collecting and analysing data, and writing reports and/or manuscripts
∎ Contribute to wider organizational goals within local, regional and international stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 1-2 year(s), however, candidates with outstanding academic merit with limited experience would be considered.
Salary:
∎ Taka 30,000 gross per month.
