Education:

Responsibilities & Context:

We are seeking an experienced Master Mariner to oversee vessel operations, navigation, safety, crew management, and compliance with applicable maritime regulations. The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable vessel operations while maintaining the highest standards of maritime safety and operational discipline.

  • Command and operate vessels safely and efficiently in strict accordance with company policies and international maritime regulations.

  • Ensure safe navigation, rigorous passage planning, and flawless voyage execution.

  • Maintain full compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code, and all other applicable international and national maritime requirements.

  • Uphold the Master's overriding authority to make critical decisions regarding safety and pollution prevention.

  • Maintain flawless vessel documentation, official logbooks, statutory certificates, and operational records.

  • Supervise and manage onboard crew, including duty allocation, discipline, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

  • Conduct and supervise emergency drills, routine safety inspections, and comprehensive risk assessments.

  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents, near-misses, and other safety-related matters, implementing corrective actions immediately.

  • Promote a strong safety culture, maintaining top-tier housekeeping and strict environmental protection standards.

  • Supervise the entire cargo discharge operation from the mother vessel from arrival until completion.

  • Arrange draft surveyors to conduct independent arrival and final draft surveys of the mother vessel.

  • Manage all survey operations for loaded lighter vessels, independently determining the exact cargo quantity loaded via draft survey metrics.

  • Monitor cargo discharge against Bill of Lading (B/L) quantities; calculate daily discharge metrics and track the remaining balance.

  • Receive part or combined cargo smoothly through joint surveys conducted alongside the supplier's appointed surveyor.

  • Lead and supervise operational staff engaged in monitoring the unloading of wheat, coal, and other bulk cargoes at various ghats and jetties.

  • Monitor lighter vessel cargo unloading operations at various ghats to guarantee a smooth, efficient, and timely discharge.

  • Verify and monitor weighbridge scale accuracy, systematically cross-checking truck/bridge weights against marine survey calculations.

  • Identify and report discrepancies in cargo quantity or unloading operations, proactively recommending and executing corrective actions.

  • Verify cargo quantities carried by the company’s lighter vessels for third-party consignees to ensure completely accurate freight and invoice calculations.

  • Manage vessel resources efficiently, including fuel, provisions, specialized equipment, and stores.

  • Coordinate seamlessly with ship owners, charterers, port authorities, shipping agents, and shore-based operations teams.

  • Manage vessel arrival/departure procedures, port customs formalities, and pilotage arrangements.

  • Ensure proper implementation of the planned maintenance system (PMS) and promptly report technical defects or operational issues to technical superintendents.

  • Prepare regular operational reports and maintain transparent, real-time communication regarding vessel status with senior management.
