Experience:
20+ years of senior leadership experience within ports, shipping, logistics, transportation, or large-scale infrastructure sectors.
Demonstrated track record in leading or closing complex infrastructure investments and concession-based transactions.
Proven P&L ownership at CEO, Managing Director, or equivalent executive level.
Deep expertise in public-private partnership (PPP) structures and long-term concession models.
Experience working with multinational shareholders, global shipping lines, sovereign bodies, and institutional investors.
Strong commercial judgement combined with political awareness and negotiation capability.
Deep understanding of South Asian market dynamics, regulatory environments, and trade ecosystems.
The Managing Director Inorganic Growth (South Asia) will lead the region's strategic expansion agenda, driving sustainable value creation through acquisitions, concessions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships across the ports, terminals, logistics, and broader transportation ecosystem.
This role requires a commercially astute and politically savvy executive with deep regional expertise, strong sovereign and institutional relationships, and a proven ability to originate, structure, and close complex infrastructure transactions within public-private partnership environments. The MD will operate at the intersection of strategy, investment, governance, and stakeholder diplomacy, shaping the organisation's long-term footprint across South Asia.
Responsibilities:
Inorganic Growth & Investment Leadership
Define and execute a multi-year inorganic growth strategy aligned with global corporate objectives and capital allocation priorities.
Originate, evaluate, and lead acquisition, concession, brownfield and greenfield investment opportunities across ports and integrated logistics assets.
Direct commercial, financial, operational, and strategic due diligence processes.
Lead competitive bid management for terminal concessions and strategic infrastructure opportunities, ensuring disciplined capital deployment.
Structure transactions, partnerships, and joint ventures to optimise risk-return outcomes.
Government & Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
Build and sustain senior-level relationships with government authorities, port authorities, regulators, sovereign entities, and policy influencers.
Navigate complex regulatory and PPP frameworks to secure long-term strategic advantage.
Lead negotiations and renewals of concession agreements, ensuring contractual protection and commercial sustainability.
Act as a trusted advisor and representative of the organisation in high-stakes public and institutional engagements.
Market Strategy & Industry Positioning
Provide forward-looking market intelligence across South Asia's maritime and logistics landscape.
Engage proactively with global shipping lines, alliances, and institutional partners to anticipate shifts in trade flows and capacity dynamics.
Shape the organisation's regional positioning through active participation in industry forums, policy discussions, and trade associations.
Governance, Capital Stewardship & Board Interface
Partner with regional and global executive leadership on investment strategy and capital deployment decisions.
Present robust investment theses, risk assessments, and financial models to Executive Committees and Boards.
Ensure alignment between inorganic growth initiatives and long-term asset performance, ESG commitments, and shareholder value creation.
Uphold strong governance, compliance, and risk management standards across all transactions.
