Job Context:
∎ Based in Dhaka Country Office and Reports to the Literacy Director
∎ Position Overview:
∎ The Manager - Training and Capacity Building is a member of the Instructional Design & Teacher Support (IDTS) Unit, under the Literacy Program. This unit is responsible for managing Room to Read`s program design and training curriculum related to early grade literacy instruction, library management and reading activities. In collaboration with the different teams, the position will be responsible for providing technical assistance, support, and supervision on all aspects of the Training program design, including professional development of teachers, government officials, partners and Room to Read staff. This position is based in the Country Office and reports to the Literacy Director. In addition to the above, the position will be responsible for managing trainings at the Country Office and field levels. This position will involve frequent travel to field offices, as well as regular interaction with education officials, partners, school administrators, teachers, and students.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Management and Coordination:
∎ Support, mentor, and build capacity of the team members jointly with the Program Manager, Instructional Design & Materials Development to continue developing their skills in understanding literacy instruction and library management both on theoretical and practical perspective.
∎ Provides technical assistance to the CO and field teams and build their capacity for developing manuals, training modules, and documenting best practices.
∎ Collaborates with the Quality Reading Materials (QRM) unit regarding the printing of the training and capacity-building related materials and ensures the materials are appropriate and enhance the literacy and library experience.
∎ Ensures necessary training-related technical support is provided to the schools run by the field offices.
∎ Participates in any other activities, which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the organization.
∎ Program Design, Implementation, Training, and Monitoring:
∎ Analyze of the RtR developed materials to identify content and structure for training materials and designing training and workshop modules for teachers, government officials, partners and Room to Read staff.
∎ Responsible for designing Room to Read's approach for teacher support to improve students' literacy skills and habit of reading, adapted as needed based on research, monitoring, and evaluation data.
∎ Experience in developing and conducting on-site school support and coaching initiatives for teachers
∎ Ensures the quality of all Room to Read training including designing and conducting training for teachers, and Head-teachers, as well as building the capacity of RtR staff to conduct the trainings.
∎ Support the development of Instruction and Library materials as required.
∎ Ensures global guidelines are being adhered to and adapted as needed.
∎ Planning, Reporting, and Documentation:
∎ In collaboration with the CO Program Operations team and PM-IDTS, analyze annual program goals and budgets to ensure alignment with organizational strategies and priorities.
∎ In collaboration with the CO Program Operations team, lead annual plans and budget process of training and capacity building of the Literacy Program.
∎ Track overall training and capacity building activities and spending, provide input for proper utilization of budget.
∎ Prepares and review program reports, monthly implementation updates of training and capacity building, and responds as necessary.
∎ External Coordination and Networking:
∎ Collaborates with the government to build support for the program and identify ways to supplement and augment the government training curriculum for the teachers.
∎ Communicates with relevant government education offices for receiving approval on training and capacity building of the teachers and govt officials.
∎ Represents Room to Read by attending and speaking at relevant forums and advocates for the importance of Literacy program work.
∎ Liaises with other NGOs running similar programs to identify areas of knowledge sharing and possible collaboration.

Additional Requirements:
∎ A minimum of 10 years of professional experience
∎ Diversified experience of reading/literacy or learning improvement programs in developing educational learning materials for students or teachers at the primary level
∎ Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and teacher & govt officials training at primary level
∎ Experience of working at pre-primary level will be an added advantage
∎ Experience in developing and conducting training programs for teachers, govt officials and partner staff
∎ Experience in developing and implementing programmatic improvements
∎ Strong planning, supervising, and program development skills
∎ Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and process documentation
∎ Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people and organizations
∎ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
∎ Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
