Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Analyze climate and weather data from national and international sources to identify patterns, trends, and risks related to extreme weather events/climate change.
∎ Contribute to the development of an early warning system by integrating weather data with health and demographic datasets.
∎ Collaborate with the GIS team to create predictive models and maps that highlight areas and populations at risk from climate-induced events such as cyclones, floods, and droughts.
∎ Provide real-time weather and climate forecasts to inform program interventions and disaster response strategies.
∎ Support the preparation of climate risk assessments and vulnerability analyses in coordination with other team members and other related stakeholders.
∎ Work with IEDCR and national health programs to incorporate meteorological variables into early warning system.Train project staff and stakeholders in understanding and interpreting meteorological data for climate-health surveillance.
∎ Prepare detailed reports, charts, and visualizations summarizing climate risks and their potential health impacts.
∎ Participate in field activities to validate meteorological data and contribute to local-level risk profiling and awareness-building efforts. SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.·
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
∎ With the support of The Global Fund, The Climate Change and Health Project aims to raise awareness about the health impacts of climate change, particularly the rise in vector-borne and communicable diseases. By engaging local communities, health authorities, and relevant stakeholders, the project focuses on preventive measures, early warning systems, and capacity building to reduce the health risks associated with climate change. Activities include advocacy campaigns, training for health workers, seasonal health updates, and the identification and elimination of disease breeding grounds.
∎ The project strives to enhance community resilience and promote sustainable health practices in the face of climate challenges.
