Responsibilities & Context:
  • Strategic EHS Leadership

    • Develop and execute the organization's EHS strategy aligned with corporate objectives and operational priorities.

    • Establish a robust EHS governance framework covering all manufacturing plants, warehouses, logistics operations, and corporate offices.

    • Drive a culture of safety excellence, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement across the organization.

    • Serve as the principal advisor to the CPOO and senior management on all EHS matters.

    • Lead organizational initiatives aimed at achieving world-class EHS performance.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable Bangladesh environmental, occupational health and safety, fire safety, labor, transportation, and industrial regulations.

    • Monitor changes in legal and regulatory requirements and ensure timely implementation across all locations.

    • Develop and maintain compliance registers, permits, licenses, and statutory reporting requirements.

    • Lead enterprise-wide EHS risk assessments and mitigation programs.

    • Ensure compliance with customers and stakeholders EHS requirements where applicable.

  • Occupational Health & Safety Management

    • Develop and implement safety management systems, standards, procedures, and safe work practices.

    • Establish programs for hazard identification, risk assessment, incident prevention, and behavior-based safety.

    • Lead investigations of serious incidents, near misses, and occupational injuries to determine root causes and preventive actions.

    • Monitor workplace safety performance through audits, inspections, observations, and leading indicators.

    • Ensure effective contractor safety management programs are implemented across all sites.

    • Promote employee engagement and participation in workplace safety initiatives.

  • Environmental Management & Sustainability

    • Develop and implement environmental management programs to minimize environmental impact.

    • Oversee waste management, emissions control, resource efficiency, pollution prevention, and environmental compliance programs.

    • Monitor environmental performance metrics and recommend improvement initiatives.

    • Support sustainability initiatives related to energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and climate-related objectives.

    • Ensure environmental permits and reporting obligations are effectively managed.

  • Manufacturing and Operational EHS Oversight

    • Provide direct EHS oversight into all manufacturing facilities and support functions.

    • Ensure consistent implementation of EHS standards across all factories and operational sites.

  • Conduct periodic site reviews, audits, and management inspections.

    • Support operational leaders in integrating EHS requirements into production, maintenance, engineering, and quality processes.

    • Ensuring process safety and machine safety programs are effectively implemented.

  • Warehouse, Logistics & Transportation Safety

    • Establish EHS standards for warehouse operations, fleet management, transportation activities, and distribution networks.

    • Ensure safe handling, storage, and transportation of raw materials, chemicals, and finished products.

    • Implement road safety and defensive driving programs.

    • Monitor contractor and third-party logistics safety performance.

  • Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity

    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for all facilities and offices.

    • Coordinate emergency preparedness drills, fire safety programs, evacuation exercises, and crisis response activities.

    • Liaise with government authorities, fire service, hospitals, and emergency response agencies.

    • Support business continuity planning from an EHS perspective.

  • EHS Management Systems & Certifications

    • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of EHS management systems.

    • Manage certification and surveillance audits related to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other applicable standards.

    • Ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.

  • Training, Awareness & Culture Development

    • Develop and implement annual EHS training and competency development programs.

    • Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate EHS orientation and training.

    • Promote awareness campaigns, safety communications, and leadership engagement programs.

    • Coach and mentor operational leaders to strengthen EHS ownership and accountability.

  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting

    • Establish EHS KPIs and performance dashboards for management review.

    • Analyze incident trends, audit findings, risk data, and compliance indicators.

    • Prepare periodic reports for the CPOO, Executive Management Team, and Board-level review as required.

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on performance analysis.

  • Team Leadership

    • Lead, develop, and supervise the factory-based EHS Officers and other EHS personnel.

    • Ensure consistent implementation of EHS standards across all operational locations.

    • Conduct performance management, coaching, succession planning, and capability development for the EHS team.

    • Foster collaboration between EHS, Operations, Engineering, HR, Supply Chain, Quality, and Administration functions.

  • Predictive Risk & Hazard Management

    • Utilize AI predictive analytics and machine learning models to analyze incident trends, near-misses, and behavioral data to forecast potential accidents before they occur.

    • Implement IoT-enabled wearable devices and smart sensors for real-time monitoring of work environments (e.g., hazardous gas leaks, heat stress, unsafe noise levels, and fatigue).

    • Deploy AI-assisted computer vision via existing CCTV networks to conduct continuous, automated monitoring of PPE compliance and restrict access to high-risk zones

  • Digital Compliance & Reporting

    • Manage automated compliance tracking and generate real-time ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and safety performance dashboards to replace manual reporting.

    • Ensure the ethical and compliant deployment of AI safety tools, ensuring data privacy for employees and adherence to governance standards.

    • Transition traditional, manual facility audits into AI-augmented inspections that rapidly process large datasets and images.

  • Innovation & Safety Culture

    • Champion continuous improvement by integrating emerging digital tools into the company’s HSE Management Systems (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001).

    • Oversee "human-in-the-loop" governance—ensuring complex incident investigations and critical interventions are managed by safety professionals with AI support, rather than automated entirely.

    • Develop training and competency frameworks that leverage virtual reality (VR) and personalized AI-driven safety modules for the workforce.

  • Any other task assigned by the Management.
