Experience Requirements
• 5–8 years of relevant hands-on experience in electrical maintenance in a Shipyard.
• Experience should include:
o Industrial electrical systems
o Generators, motors, alternators, and starters
o Heavy machinery electrical troubleshooting
• Sailing experience as an Electrical Engineer / ETO on board ships will be considered a strong advantage
• Experience in a shipyard, ship recycling yard, dockyard, power plant, or heavy industrial facility preferred
Additional Requirements
• Strong hands-on troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Sound knowledge of industrial electrical safety practices
• Ability to work independently in a demanding industrial environment

Job Context
BOB Recyclers is looking for a competent and hands-on Maintenance Engineer (Electrical) to support electrical maintenance operations at its ship recycling yard. The role requires strong practical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, generators, motors, alternators, starters, and electrical troubleshooting of heavy machinery.
Sailing experience as an Electrical Engineer / Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) on board ships will be considered a decisive advantage, particularly for candidates familiar with shipboard electrical systems and heavy-duty machinery.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems and machinery
• Overhaul and repair AC & DC electric motors, including dismantling, inspection, testing, and reassembly
• Carry out alternator routine maintenance, testing, and fault diagnosis
• Perform starter motor routines, troubleshooting starting failures, and control circuit issues
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults in:
o Generators and power distribution systems
o Pumps, compressors, winches, cranes, and cutting machinery
o Control panels, MCCs, switchgear, and protection devices
• Support commissioning, load testing, and performance verification of electrical equipment
• Maintain electrical maintenance records, test logs, and job cards
• Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety regulations, LOTO procedures, and yard safety rules
• Coordinate with mechanical and production teams to minimize equipment downtime
