  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in the legal field, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in litigation management for large corporations.

  • Strong knowledge of Bangladeshi legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly credit recovery and commercial litigation.

  • Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Experience in managing external law firms and legal consultants.

  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and collaboratively, with a problem-solving and result-driven mindset.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in managing sensitive legal matters.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose

The Legal Counsel will oversee and manage all legal matters of the organization, with a strong emphasis on litigation management against defaulted customers. This role requires deep expertise in corporate and commercial law, litigation strategy, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration. The incumbent will safeguard the organization’s interests while ensuring strict compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the organization’s full litigation portfolio, including case preparation, drafting legal documents, motions, and representing the company in court.

  • Conduct legal research on applicable laws, regulations, and precedents to design strong litigation strategies.

  • Assess risks and potential liabilities related to ongoing litigations; provide management with recommendations on mitigation, settlement, or legal recourse.

  • Develop and implement strategies for litigating against customers defaulting on credit.

  • Collaborate closely with internal departments (Sales, Finance, Land, etc.) and external counsel to align legal actions with business objectives.

  • Lead negotiations with defaulted customers and their representatives to minimize financial losses through settlement or enforcement.

  • Ensure all legal activities comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies.

  • Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments that could impact business operations; advise management proactively.

  • Maintain comprehensive and updated records of litigations, case progress, court filings, settlement agreements, and correspondence.

  • Review, draft, and verify contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with company policies, legal standards, and risk mitigation.

  • Provide guidance to business teams on contractual obligations, legal risks, and approval processes before execution.

  • Prepare periodic reports for senior management summarizing case status, risks, outcomes, and recommended actions.

  • Promote continuous professional development by staying updated on litigation practices and engaging in relevant training and legal forums
