Experience:
Experience in handling different cases and dealing with clients/beneficiaries at thecommunity level.
Experience in managing case documents properly.
An applicant who has earlier working experience/currently working at the RohingyaCrisis will be given preferences.
Good skills in speaking/reading/writing in Bangla and English. Understanding theRohingya language will be an added advantage.
Job Context:
It is a mid-level position based at the Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. This position willassist the Legal Officer/Legal Coordinator handling legal matters in the project areas. S/he willwork closely with the clients/beneficiaries of BLAST. S/he will assist the clients/beneficiarieswith legal issues regularly. The incumbent will manage the client’s legal files/documentsproperly and produce them as needed and when required. S/he will regularly maintain aregister and case diary and assist Panel Lawyers in dealing with cases for BLAST clients. Additionally, the person will be responsible for doing any other tasks assigned by the management.
Job Responsibilities:
Interviewing clients and accurately recording their applications.
Support the maintenance of case files, registers, and case diaries in accordance withguidelines.
Assist in scrutinizing case papers and analyzing the merit of cases under supervisionand as per guidelines.
Maintain regular contact with clients/beneficiaries and update the Legal Officer/Supervisor on case progress.
Prepare client lists, identify and communicate with clients, compile backgrounddocuments, and disseminate relevant information.
Assist in conducting mediation sessions at the community level and follow up onoutcomes as directed.
Maintain effective communication with clients at the community level and support theresolution of minor legal disputes under supervision.
Identify legal concerns and escalate/refer cases to the Legal Officer/Supervisor and,where necessary, assist in referral to Panel Lawyers.
Maintain records of engaged Panel Lawyers and support coordination as required.
Identify safety concerns and, as per guidelines, file sensitive cases (e.g., violence,exploitation) with the police station in consultation with the Legal Officer/Supervisorand forward them to the court team.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly legal reports onapplications received, mediation, and case updates as per guidelines.
Ensure accurate case data entry and regular updating of the Case Management System (CMS).
Assist in organizing, conducting, and participating in meetings, workshops, seminars,and training sessions for staff and volunteers as required.
Assist in implementing legal awareness sessions and capacity-building activities at the community level.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Legal Officer/Supervisor or the authority from time to time.
