Summary of Duties:

  • Under the supervision of the Counsellor and International Assistance Program Manager at the High Commission of Canada to Dhaka in Bangladesh and in close consultation with the development team at Global Affairs Canada (GAC) in Ottawa, the Senior International Assistance Officer supports all phases of program and project management. The Officer develops and maintains a network of contacts and a knowledge base in support of Canadian development programming in Bangladesh. The Senior Officer participates in the identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of international assistance programs and projects in Bangladesh, including through conducting field visits, and by supporting multilateral, Canadian partnership, and humanitarian programming where appropriate. The Senior Officer coordinates with other stakeholders, including government, civil society, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and other donors, representing the Government of Canada and leading/participating in policy dialogue at events, in committees, and international assistance working groups as required. The Senior Officer provides high-level strategic analyses and advice/recommendations to support GAC’s overall international assistance programming priorities in Bangladesh, and drafts briefing/speaking notes, project approval documents, reports, presentations, and other materials as required. The Senior Officer also performs other duties as required, for example, supporting official or high-level visits and the development of strategies and materials for the advancement of Canada’s advocacy priorities.
