Responsibilities & Context:
To establish regular communication and consultation mechanisms to maintain harmonious industrial relations between factory management and workers.
To represent and escalate individual and collective worker grievances to management and facilitate their prompt and fair resolution.
To understand workers’ perspectives and support both management and workers in resolving issues through mutual understanding, cooperation, and constructive dialogue.
To monitor industrial relations proactively and, in the event of any dispute, use influence and mediation skills to support amicable settlement through joint consultation.
To address wages, employment conditions, and related matters through joint discussions with management and recognized worker representatives.
To promote healthy and effective labor–management practices within the factory.
To coordinate closely with the factory medical officer to ensure improved healthcare services and appropriate medical support for workers.
To encourage the formation and effective functioning of work committees, joint production committees, cooperative societies, and welfare committees, and to oversee their activities.
To ensure the availability and proper maintenance of worker amenities, including dining facilities, crèche services, clean and adequate sanitation facilities, and safe drinking water.
To assist management in administering leave with wages and to explain relevant leave policies and procedures to workers, including guidance on leave applications and authorized absences.
To guide female workers on maternity leave procedures and benefits, monitor maternity leave cases, follow up on post-leave return issues, and check on the well-being of workers planning or availing maternity leave.
To recommend initiatives aimed at improving working and living conditions and enhancing the overall welfare of workers.
To educate and brief workers on occupational health and safety practices, including the use of PPE, machine guarding, sanitation, OSH requirements, and fire safety.
To perform any additional duties as assigned by factory management.
