Job Responsibilities:
∎ To develop, launch and manage the entire Islamic Assets and Liability Products for all corporate, SME and Retail banking segments developed around Market needs, customer perceptions and bank requirements
∎ Focus on value creation through the identification of customer opportunities with a high operating income to the bank and the anticipation of customer inflows and outflows
∎ Review opportunities for investment and disinvestment of resources and make capital allocation decisions within the mandate
∎ Direct the executive team to define policies, framework, and rules of engagement required in the function
∎ Take ownership in imparting periodic trainings for all channels
∎ Establish industry relationships to help leverage Islamic Banking positioning in the Market.
∎ Develop strategic initiatives for Islamic Banking as agreed with the Management
∎ Oversee the monitoring of the effectiveness and implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure delivery thereof and implement any corrective measures as and when required
∎ Perform people management functions, including but not limited to workforce and recruitment, demand planning, talent management, reward, recognition, etc.
∎ Manage cost within approved budget.
∎ Ensure compliance with the Bank policies, legislation and regulations and that staff compliance training and attestations are in place.
∎ Ensure strong regulatory relationship with all regulatory stakeholders
∎ Partner with key Divisions/Departments/Units i.e., Operations, Marketing, communications, Risk, compliance, IT, HR and legal teams in continuously reviewing the processes.
∎ Other Related Responsibilities:
∎ Preparation of the products to be offered by the bank under Islamic Banking whether on Asset side or Liability Side and ensuring that these are compliant with Shariah and are approved by Shariah Committee of the bank and the relevant regularity authority.
∎ Ensure that Profit payable to the investors and depositors by the bank under Islamic banking are within the scope of Islamic banking and are Shariah Compliant and that the procedure adopted for this purpose by the bank remains compliant to the rules and regulations issued by Bangladesh Bank or any other relevant regulatory authority set up for this purpose by the government.
∎ Ensure that Profit recoverable from the Borrowers on the Lending products under the Islamic banking are within the scope of Shariah Compliant banking and that the procedure adopted for this purpose by the bank remains compliant to the rules and regulations issued by Bangladesh Bank or any other relevant regulatory authority set up for this purpose by the government.
∎ Ensuring that contacts are made on regular basis with Bank's appointed Shariah Committee, Bangladesh Bank and any other regulatory authority set up by the Government for this purpose for guidance and obtaining their consents where required.
∎ Offering advices to the bank on Treatment of profit and Loss under Islamic Banking.
∎ Offering advices to the bank on the Accounting Procedures and IT related support for the Islamic banking.
∎ Ensure that all the Manuals related to Islamic Banking and other procedures/check lists are in place and are being followed by the employees properly and effectively.
∎ Ensure that the Manual/procedures/check lists for Islamic Banking are being updated from time to time and that such changes are circulated among the staff.
∎ Ensure that the services of a qualified Shariah Advisor are always available for guidance in the matters related to Shariah compliant Islamic Banking.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 10 years' prior experience in Islamic Baking at a Senior Position
∎ Knowledge in Islamic Investment Risk and Compliance Management
∎ Knowledge in Islamic Banking Products and Concepts
∎ Knowledge in Islamic Banking Regulatory Framework of the Country
