Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Engage with women fisher folk, community leaders, and other stakeholders to raise awareness and encourage participation in project activities.
∎ Facilitate the formation of community forums, support groups, and committees.
∎ Conduct regular visits to project sites to monitor progress and gather feedback.
∎ Organize and conduct awareness sessions on the importance of national identity cards, gender equality, and women’s rights.
∎ Facilitate advocacy meetings and dialogues with local authorities and the Department of Fisheries.
∎ Coordinate and deliver gender-based training sessions, leadership and decision-making programs, and workshops on alternative income-generating activities.
∎ Assist in the development and dissemination of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
∎ Collect and document data on project activities, participant attendance, and outcomes.
∎ Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, challenges, and achievements to the Project Coordinator.
∎ Conduct community baseline surveys and participate in bi-monthly staff meetings to review project status and address issues.
∎ Work closely with local NGOs, government agencies, and other partners to ensure coordinated efforts in enforcing laws against child marriage, promoting gender equality, and supporting women fisher folk.
∎ Facilitate collaboration with microfinance institutions for loan schemes and financial training for women fisher folk.
∎ Coordinate with environmental organizations to implement climate resilience training and develop community-based climate adaptation plans.
∎ Provide training on occupational health hazards, safety, and unionization for women in the fisheries sector.
∎ Conduct ADDA sessions with adolescent girls and women on rights, health & hygiene, and social issues.
∎ Support women in accessing legal services and resources for their rights and entitlements.

∎ Job Context:
∎ SAINT-Bangladesh is a value based independent, non-profit and Non-Government Organization (NGO), participating in survival strategies of coastal poor. It believes in integration of right based approach in striving for people centered sustainable development initiatives, maintaining a level of transparency, participation, accountability, child and gender sensitivity and respect to human rights and dignity principles in management. SAINT-Bangladesh is seeking a professional for the position of Field Facilitator for the project title of “Empowerment and Equity: Transforming the Lives of Women in Fisheries in Barisal Sadar under Empowering Women through Civil Society Actors (EWCSA) project, by Oxfam Co-funded by European Union. The project will be implemented in Barishal district from July 2024. Note that this requirement will depend on the availability of donor fund.
∎ Job Summary:
∎ The Field Facilitator will play a critical role in implementing and monitoring project activities aimed at improving the socio-economic status and quality of life for women fisher folk in the Barisal district. The facilitator will work directly with targeted groups/ community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of project objectives.
∎ The Field Facilitator will ensure that all project components are executed effectively, adhering to timelines and budgetary constraints while fostering strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations. This role will also encompass monitoring and evaluating project outcomes, advocating for policy changes, and conducting training sessions on critical issues such as rights awareness, leadership, and climate resilience.
∎ The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of gender issues, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in project implementation. They will be committed to creating a positive impact in the lives of women fisher folk and addressing the challenges they face in their communities. This role involves coordinating with stakeholders, he/she ensuring compliance with Oxfam, European Union and SAINT-Bangladesh’s guidelines, and facilitating community engagement and capacity-building initiatives.
