Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support on any fabric issues, starting from sourcing, development, sampling, base test, lab-dip/strike-off/hand loom, bulk testing, appearance, handle and color approval, garment washing, garment dyeing, etc.
∎ Reviewing and analyzing Supplier quality performance in aspects of suppliers and products and 3rd party testing lab of fabrics.
∎ Analysis test reports from Fabric Mill, 3rd Party lab, and buyer in-house lab to follow up with supplier for performance and take appropriate action for the low performing area.
∎ Knitting parameters are changing on the test report, previous data analysis, and potential risk for any specific knit fabric if required (e.g. GSM, Shrinkage, etc.).
∎ Give a specific report format where the supplier's QA team record all information for knitting quality (Machine gauge, stitch length, yarn count, feeders)
∎ For woven, denim: Follow up Weaving to finishing (Washing, chemical finishing) Audit the potential mills/spinners/dye houses prior to "approval" as fabric/yarn suppliers.
∎ Monitoring, develop and lead the fabric quality team and give them all types of training for fabric dying needle points technical knowledge and find out the problem and analysis root Couse and corrective action method for future improvement as required.
∎ Conducting technical training and presentation for suppliers and internal colleagues on quality and process.
∎ Giving technical support to the fabric scouring team and merchandiser and helping them to develop fabric suppliers.
∎ Trained and develop fabric manufacturer for good quality fabrics handed over to garments manufacturer factory. And from time to time update the garments supplier feedback on fabric quality results.
∎ Claim for fabric replacement or re- call from garments manufacture for fabric quality failure keeping formal documents and through mail to the factory merchandiser.
∎ Responsible for proper documentation and reporting of fabric inspection, shrinkage, shade, and washing appearances according to buyer requirements.
∎ Monthly Quality scorecard will be communicated with all the related concern personnel in fabric supplier for future improvement.
∎ Customers key focusing area need to strong follow up and taking initiative to meet all the customer requirements.
∎ Monthly Fabric Quality defects summary & Garments manufacturer feedback, sharing with concern responsible personnel by organizing meeting with all.
∎ Leading & organizing the Fabric knitting, dying full plant and analysis/identify from proactive stage of fabric manufacturing related Risk.
∎ Monthly Fabric inspection status own self & garments manufacturer feedback shall be communicated with the management as well as all the dept. concerns who are directly connected with manufacturing the fabric. Make RCA & CAPA according to needful & communicate with garments manufacturer & buying office concern.
∎ Clear communication with the Buying N- Tech to ensure all the Fabric quality and customers system requirements are well functioning in the organization.
∎ Clear communication with team members to perform all the related fabric test according to customer requirements/Guideline.
∎ Follow up and ensure FTD, ETD, MTD, & first bulk hanger send to garments manufacturer supplier as well as buyer from bulk production fabric with maintain fabric quality and color shade.
∎ As a fabric technologist you as a technical person you need to understand fabric construction, weave type, weaving tension, weaving faults width, GSM, cover factor, crimp, looms, dyeing, and fabric finish types. Technologists should have complete technical knowledge of maintaining Yarn and Fabric process details by collecting information on fibers (origin, composition, length, micron air value, strength, trash), yarn (spinning method, count, quality, ply, TPI, twist direction), grey fabric production (construction, GSM, stitch length, yarn tension, machine gauge, NO. of feeders-needles, take down tension for knit fabric and for a woven fabric: construction, width, weight, OBA, and wet processing (pre-treatment and dyeing to finishing). A knowledgeable person on fabric, it's manufacturing, dyeing, printing, and finishing process. Job roles, responsibilities, or job descriptions whatever we can call a fabric technologist given above points.
