Responsibilities & Context:

Job Purpose:

To plan, monitor, and improve cutting efficiency, manpower utilization, and operational methods in the cutting department. Ensure optimal productivity, minimum fabric wastage, and smooth coordination between production and planning teams in a knit composite environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control

  • Prepare daily and weekly cutting plans based on production schedules and order priorities.

  • Ensure proper line feeding to sewing sections as per the production plan.

  • Monitor daily cutting output against targets and take corrective actions when necessary.

2. Method Study & Work Improvement

  • Analyze cutting operations and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Study and improve workflow, layout, and material handling systems in the cutting room.

  • Identify bottlenecks and introduce process improvements to reduce idle time and increase efficiency.

3. Manpower Management

  • Plan and allocate manpower effectively across cutting tables, spreading, and layering sections.

  • Monitor operator performance and ensure skill development through on-the-job training.

  • Support HR team in manpower budgeting and productivity analysis.

4. Fabric & Resource Utilization

  • Work closely with CAD and marker-making teams to optimize fabric consumption and minimize wastage.

  • Ensure proper use of cutting tools, machines, and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate records of fabric utilization, lay chart, and wastage percentages.

5. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards in fabric cutting, marking, and bundling.

  • Implement safety measures and maintain a clean, organized cutting floor.

  • Support audits and ensure compliance with factory rules and buyer requirements.

6. Coordination & Reporting

  • Liaise with Planning, CAD, Sewing, and Finishing departments for smooth workflow.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly efficiency and production reports.

  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as efficiency, fabric wastage, and output.
