Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Examine patients, take medical histories, and assess symptoms.
∎ Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g. blood tests, imaging).
∎ Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans.
∎ Prescribe medications and therapies appropriate to the patient's condition.
∎ Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
∎ Manage acute and chronic illnesses in inpatient and emergency settings.
∎ Coordinate care for patients with complex or multiple conditions.
∎ Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
∎ Document all decisions, treatments, and interactions in compliance with legal and medical standards.
∎ Work closely with nurses, specialists, radiographers, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals.
∎ Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and treatment planning.
∎ Respond to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests, strokes, or trauma cases.
∎ Participate in on-call rosters for night, weekend, or holiday coverage.
∎ Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses to patients and their families in a clear and compassionate manner.
∎ Obtain informed consent for procedures and treatments.
∎ Educate patients about disease prevention, lifestyle choices, and post-discharge care.
∎ Comply with hospital policies, infection control procedures, and healthcare regulations.
∎ Uphold confidentiality and ethical practices in all patient interactions.
∎ Attend medical conferences, training sessions, and educational programs to stay updated with advancements in medicine.
∎ Engage in research or quality improvement initiatives if applicable.
