Job Context:
∎ Meghna Group of Industries has initiated Marcantile Shipping Lines Limited (MSLL) for providing a comprehensive range of integrated cargo transportation linked with international & domestic services. Currently, 24 Ocean Going Vessels are being operated under MSLL with a view to contributing to the economy through importing and exporting different items by hoisting our national flag.
∎ MGI is currently looking for an enthusiastic, qualified, and experienced personnel for the position of DPA (Designated Person Ashore)/ CSO (Company Security Officer) at Chattogram to ensure proper compliance of each ship by substantiating safety and pollution prevention aspects of ship operation. The incumbent will directly report to the Board of Director of MGI.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Safety Management System: Ensure safe operation of each ship by establishing, implementing and improving SMS (Safety Management System) for each ship. Ensure that the necessary corrective measures are taken if any deficiency or non-conformity exists in the SMS and verify the effects of the measures taken.
∎ Navigational Standard and Procedures: Ensure that navigational standards and procedures are maintained properly through monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects of each ship. Ensure that adequate resources and shore based supports are applied appropriately by monitoring the allocated job of every members of the team. Ensure that all vessels are following safe working and operational procedure in every aspects mainly for health, safety, security and environmental issues.
∎ Vessel Internal Audit: Improve efficiency in ship operation by organizing and monitoring vessel internal audit from time to time. Ensure that internal control processes are operating effectively by analyzing and investigating all incidents and formulating counter measures for every ship.
∎ Relationship with Certification Bodies: Develop good relationship with certification bodies by maintaining liaison concerning external audits and certification of the company's SMS. Assure that statutory and trending certificates are updated on a regular interval after any renewal/ changes carried out by flag/ class.
∎ Effectiveness of Contingency Planning: Lessen operational disruption by evaluating the effectiveness of contingency plans addressing navigational and machinery failures and various shipboard procedures.
∎ Injunction and Caution Message: Ensure safe navigation by providing caution messages on regular basis for vessel during heavy weather and high density fisting traffic areas as required.
∎ Shore TTX (Tabletop Exercise): Reduce maritime crime threats by planning of shore TTX and providing continuous training to the shipboard personnel.
∎ Team Guardianship: Take care of team members through motivation, inspiration and guidance that encourages team bonding within the department. Maximize the potentiality of team members by developing & growing them through training, mentoring & supervising that contribute to the growth of the organization.
∎ Relationship with Management: Maintain good relationship with Management by ensuring on time enquiry support which includes collecting information from reliable sources, maintaining records and preserving important reference documents with high confidentiality. Develop collaborative relationship with all the Business Leaders of MGI through maintaining proper bridge of cooperation, facilitation & group cohesiveness.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 38 years
∎ The ideal candidate should have experience in ship safety management system, Vessel Internal audit & Shore TTX.
∎ Minimum 15 years of experience there in 7 years as Master.
∎ Candidate should have DPA & CSO course certificate.
∎ Preferably sailing experience with Foreign Shipping Companies.
∎ Strong interpersonal skills, team work & in-depth analytical ability
∎ Physically fit
