  • The position based in district level, so extensive field travel(80%) will be performed each month.

Responsibilities & Context:

Responsibilities:

Advocacy and liaison with the government:

  • Maintain constant and intensive liaison with the different government officials of MoE, MoHFW and MoWCA at district level to discuss progress, identify gaps, show evidence and advocate for corrective actions.

  • Advocate to all the government officials and teachers for increasing the coverage of IFA supplements among the Adolescents during monthly reviews and field visits.

  • Participate in monthly/bimonthly GO/ NGO coordination Meeting to discuss the importance of adolescent health and nutrition at Civil surgeon office.

  • Participate in the Multi Sectoral Nutrition Coordination Meeting at district level.

Planning:

  • Coordinate with District level MoHFW officials, District Education Officer (DEO)’s Department of Women’s & Affairs (DWA) and others to ensure discussion on the IFA supplementation program during the monthly meetings.

  • Support to develop district level plans for roll-out of in-school WIFAS with district level officials of health, education and MOWCA.

Capacity building:

  • Capacity building of the Upazila Secondary Education Officer`s (USEO) education dept. and health facilities on a regular basis to discuss the process, review constraints and provide technical support or suggestions for the solution for adolescent nutrition program implementation.

  • Participate in the monthly district and sub districts/Upazila meeting and update on progress of the program to the government district and upazila managers of both Education department, DWA and Health and Family planning departments.

  • Support the USEO, UH&FPO and any government official in the preparation of the training reports to be sent to IPHN/NPO/DSHE and support accounts officer in drafting the expenditure statement.

  • Provide job training to health functionaries, school committees on estimation of requirements of IFA supplements for their catchment areas and to maintain adequate supply.

  • Capacity building of the teachers and education staff school level for In-school WIFAS implementation.

Strengthening supply and delivery system:

  • Facilitate the district and upazila manager to maintain records of logistics and distribution of the IFA, communication material and job-aids.

  • Facilitate meeting with the school committee to maintain records of logistics and distribution of the IFA, communication materials and job aids

  • Ensure IFA tablet availability and distribution process from CS office to Upazilla Higher Education office maintaining the supply chain system.

  • Support at district level to send IFA demand letters from school as required and continue communicate with central level for ensuring supply at school level.

  • Provide support at the district level to submit IFA demand letters from schools as needed and maintain communication with the central level to ensure a steady supply at the school level.

Behavior change communication:

  • Engage in one-on-one negotiations or monthly meetings with key officials such as the District Education Officer, Civil Surgeon, Deputy

  • Director of Family Planning, UNO, Deputy Director-DWA, Upazila Secondary Education Officer, and Upazila Health & Family Planning

  • Officer to encourage health and education department staff to identify adolescents through school visits and provide counseling on the benefits, proper dosage, and duration of services.

  • Provide support to ensure the functionality of Adolescents Clubs.

  • Assist in ensuring the quality of nutrition education sessions at schools.

Monitoring and supportive supervision:

  • Responsible for optimizing the government MIS reporting system by providing revised formats at all levels to track the number of adolescent women and the quantity of IFA provided to adolescents through the reporting mechanism.

  • Conducting field and school visits to monitor health functionaries using a monitoring checklist and leveraging this data to inform district-level discussions and negotiations.

  • Organizing regular meetings and joint field visits with the divisional and district-level departments of MoE and MoHFW to ensure the smooth delivery of WIFAS at the district level.
