  • 10+ years in the shipping industry and 2 Years as Master of a ocean going vessel and preferably with shore based experience.



Responsibilities & Context:
  • Play a pivotal role in integrating sustainability practices into Akij Resources, driving environmental responsibility, and fostering a culture of social and ethical consciousness.

  • Drive and implement operational excellence initiatives to optimize efficiency, streamline processes, and enhance overall organizational performance within Akij Resources.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for efficient shipping operations in alignment with organizational goals.

  • Analyze market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Monitor sea passage and coordinate vessel readiness and preparations.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with vessels, agents, shippers, receivers  and charterers.

  • Monitor and control operational expenses to ensure cost-efficiency

  • Ensure compliance with current policies, including insurance requirements and agreement confirmations.

  • Identify and assess operational risks, implement measures to mitigate potential unforeseen challenges in shipping operations.

  • Oversee agency handling and Liaison with agencies to ensure smooth loading and discharging operations.

  • Conduct briefings for vessel masters and chief engineers.

  • Validate bunker estimation, planning and requirements from vessels and finalize the RFQ and negotiation process.

  • Plan activities including Lighter vessel allocation, unloading, monitoring, and quick release.
