∎ The SQL Database Administrator is an opportunity for an individual with prior experience seeking new challenges and gaining broad database administration experience in a hybrid cloud environment. The ideal candidate will be well versed in managing and standardizing stored procedures, indexes, and views. Other roles include the ability to support the daily administration, maintenance, and management of the MS SQL, Hyperscale, and Azure database environment.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
∎ • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
∎ • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
∎ • Must have knowledge of IT concepts such as Database design, layout, structures, stored procedures, tables, optimization, TCP/IP, backup and restore, failover strategies, IT security concepts and practices.
∎ • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
∎ • Proactive database performance monitoring and tuning, optimization of existing and creation of new database performance monitoring procedures.
∎ • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
∎ • Monitor and troubleshoot daily maintenance tasks in the SQL / Azure SQL environment, including logs.
∎ • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
∎ • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
∎ • Working with SSIS, SSRS and other ETL application support.
∎ • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
∎ • Participate in data projects and ad-hoc data load/analysis requests using ETL and reporting tools and technologies.
∎ • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
Additional Requirements:
∎ • 4+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required.
∎ • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
∎ • Experience in Microsoft application development tools, source control, testing, and configuration management.
∎ • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
∎ • Experience in working with Windows server, including Active Directory, Azure Cloud Environment.
∎ • Experience with SQL Cluster Management and SQL Cluster Migration is required.
∎ • Excellent English written and verbal communication.
∎ • Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality.
∎ • Ability to context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
∎ • MCTS, MCITP, AZ-900 and/or MVP certifications a plus.
∎ • Preferred Qualifications: In-depth knowledge about Azure, various components, and services. Experience in Cloud architecture, design and implementation experience. Understanding of Azure cloud platform offerings and services.
