Educational Requirements:
∎ Counseling, social work, psychology, or other similar degree/diploma OR 2+ years providing counseling under the supervision of a Psychologist (verified supervision is required for experience outside of MSF) OR 2+ years providing counseling under the supervision of an MSF Mental Health Supervisor or Mental Health Activity Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Identify the psychosocial, socio-economic, and administrative needs of patients.
∎ Actively promote the availability of counseling services and carry out individual or group counseling, and basic psychoeducational sessions to patients, and their families (when needed), in order to alleviate their psychosocial difficulties within the project scope.
∎ Refer patients to other specialists or other institutions for further assistance, when necessary in order to propose the best support available.
∎ Participate in the creation of any material needed for counseling activities and look after it.
∎ Maintain files, statistics of daily activities and participate in team meetings to share experiences and discuss challenging cases with other counselors, preserving confidentiality.
∎ Inform line manager of any problem of any kind arising during the day-to-day activities.
∎ Take an active part in training, supervisions/interventions, and support the Activity Manager when necessary in doing sensitization for MSF staff or external partners about mental health /psychosocial issues.
∎ Discuss difficulties and problems in counseling with the supervisor. General Responsabilitiés
∎ To adhere to all mental health ethical standards including do no harm, serving the best interest of the beneficiary, confidentiality, informed consent, and respect for beneficiaries choices.
∎ Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, case discussions, clinical supervision, and training.
∎ To manage time in a manner that facilitates timely follow-up with beneficiaries.
∎ To collect and maintain data on all psychosocial and counseling activities on a weekly/monthly basis and produce timely reports to the supervisor.
∎ To ensure confidentiality of all psychosocial, counseling, and medical cases/records.
∎ To collaborate with the medical team and partners in ways that safeguard the beneficiary (safety, choices, confidentiality) and enhances outcomes.
∎ To develop and prepare mental health and psychosocial education messages/topics to be used in psychosocial activities according to the needs of the beneficiaries. Psychosocial Activities.
∎ To provide information on relevant mental health issues (sensitization) and how to cope with and manage possible mental health distress (psycho-education).
∎ To identify beneficiaries who need Psychological First Aid (PFA) and link patients who need medical or mental health assistance to appropriate services.
∎ To organize and provide group activities (education groups, discussion groups, stimulation activities) in the community, camp, or clinic according to the need of beneficiaries.
∎ To visit families in their homes/tent/shelters if required, in order to facilitate defaulters' tracing, to offer psycho-education.
∎ provide psychiatric support to patients and caregivers. Therapeutic Activities.
∎ To assess the patient’s mental health and psychosocial needs and collaboratively develop a treatment plan with the patient.
∎ To provide therapeutic individual and group counseling that will reduce symptoms, enhance adaptive coping strategies, and improve the patient’s functioning.
∎ To participate in individual and group supervision, and seek assistance from the MH Supervisor/Psychologist Supervisor/MHAM when cases require more advanced psychological assessment and interventions.
∎ To assess patients for suicide risk or harm to others and provide an appropriate safety plan and interventions to mitigate that risk and optimize safety.
∎ To work with the doctor to assess and support patients and their caregivers with severe mental and neurological conditions.
∎ To monitor progress on treatment goals while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in Client Files.
∎ Programmatic Activities:
∎ To serve as a focal point for various specialized interdepartmental collaborations, (i.e. SGBV, IPDs, MH Outreach ) as a way to improve the interdisciplinary approach to care.
∎ To take leadership in the provision of group programming, including utilizing the content of the group to inform future group programming.
∎ To support training initiatives across departments and programs in raising awareness and education about MH needs and collaborations across departments. To serve as mentor and model for newly joined lay counselor team members, supporting their training, and offering coaching and mentorship.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 20 years
∎ 1-year experience essential. Experience with NGO desirable.
∎ Chittagonian dialect is essential. English desirable.

Salary:
∎ Tk. 52730 - 63276 (Monthly)
∎ Salary according to level five (5) of the internal MSF salary grid (BD 52730 Gross). 2 annual leave days per month worked. Medical insurance for employees and direct dependents. Twelve (12) months (with possible extension), includes 3 month probation period. No relocation allowance shall be provided. Highly encourage to apply Female candidate.
