  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla.

  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Office programmes (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Canva).

  • Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently with limited to no supervision.

  • Demonstrates ability to manage complexity and prioritise tasks.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with project beneficiaries and other target groups.

  • Familiarity with audio visual and graphics designing tools will be considered an asset.

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities & Context:

Swisscontact was established in 1959 as an independent foundation by notable figures from the worlds of commerce and science in Switzerland. It is exclusively involved in international development co-operation and has carried out its own and mandated projects since 1961. Based in Zurich, Swisscontact currently employs over 1,100 staff worldwide and manages projects in 41 countries on behalf of public and private donors.

Swisscontact is inviting applications from experienced development professionals for the position of Coordinator - Communications & Knowledge Management (KCM) for the ongoing project called GO4IMPact Programme Phase I, which aims to contribute to strengthening local democracy and improving equitable climate resilient basic public service provision in the water and solid waste management sectors in Bangladesh.

  • Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh with regular visits to the project field locations within the country.

  • Reports to: Senior Manager - MEL, GO4IMPact

Purpose of the Job

  • To lead and coordinate communication, knowledge management, and learning functions of the GO4IMPact Programme by ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, documenting and sharing programme insights, and enhancing visibility in alignment with organisational and donor guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Develop the project communication strategy, communications plan, and guidelines, in line with Swisscontact, donor and development partners’ communications guidelines and standards.

  • Design appropriate communications tools and support programme to ensure effective and meaningful communication with major stakeholders and programme target audiences.

  • Ensure alignment with communication strategy, guidelines throughout programme interventions, and compliance with project branding, communication, social media, safeguarding and other relevant policies.

  • Manage relevant networking and support communications to ensure that the programme learning is captured.

  • Track media footprints, establish a network and ensure programme visibility on relevant national and international media platforms.

  • Develop and implement social media strategy, support in social media content development tasks, ensure visibility on social media through coordination with WaterAid and Swisscontact Bangladesh and monitor regular social media presence.

  • Organise seminars, knowledge sharing events, and workshops for effective programme learning dissemination.

  • Prepare programme progress report, technical reports, and other routine/ad hoc reports such as quarterly and annual reports as per programme requirement.

  • Assist with designing and implementing surveys and studies.

  • Develop short notes, thought pieces or concept notes as/when necessary for the management.

  • Collect and collate lessons learned, best practices and disseminate those with relevant stakeholders through appropriate mediums.

  • Contribute to the development of innovative approaches to strengthen learning and knowledge sharing among programme staff.

  • Organise seminars, knowledge sharing events, and workshops for effective programme learning dissemination.

  • Prepare programme progress report, technical reports, and other routine/ad hoc reports such as quarterly and annual reports as per programme requirement.

  • Assist with designing and implementing surveys and studies.

  • Develop short notes, thought pieces or concept notes as/when necessary for the management.

  • Collect and collate lessons learned, best practices and disseminate those with relevant stakeholders through appropriate mediums.

  • Contribute to the development of innovative approaches to strengthen learning and knowledge sharing among programme staff.

  • Develop case studies/success stories and various communication tools following the programme and different external and internal audiences’ requirement and ensure that the communication materials are distributed and broadcasted following the official communication plan.

  • Support to maintain a fully operational knowledge management system and update it as/when necessary.

  • Support Knowledge and Communication Management (KCM) team in integrating knowledge management in all aspects of their planning, management, and steering operations.

  • Support the supervisor on the application and operationalisation of the Communications Strategy.

  • Perform any other duty(s) and responsibilities provided in line with the role, as/when assigned by the supervisor and/or by the Team Leader.

  • Collaborate with other KCM teams within the organisation as and when required to streamline and unify the KCM process.

Physical Demand

  • Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities, as needed and sometimes under short notice.
