Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree in Human Nutrition and Food science/ Dietetics from a recognized university in Bangladesh
∎ Training on nutrition management of critically ill patients with certification from the relevant boards
∎ OR
∎ Nurse with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a recognized University in Bangladesh AND 2 years' experience working in nutrition and dietetics in an ICU/HDU clinical set up AND training on nutrition management of critically ill patients with certification from the relevant boards

Job Context:
∎ Client is supporting the COVID-19 response of the Government of Bangladesh through supporting an ICU (Intensive Care Unit), HDU (High Dependency Unit) & Severe ward in Sadar hospital, Cox`s Bazar to provide care to critically ill COVID-19 patients from the refugee camps and the host community. Medical services are provided by a team of doctors and nurses that have been recruited specifically for the ICU/HDU/Severe ward. This position is intended to fill a current need in the provision of nutrition support for in-patients which is critical for patient recovery and general outcome of treatment.
∎ Nutritional support during illness is important to improve treatment outcomes and prevent further deterioration of medical complications that may arise. Lack of adequate nutrients during medical management of patients contributes to slower recovery. In ICU and HDU management, patients are often not able to feed orally and therefore assisted feeding modalities are required to be introduced within 24 -48 hours of admission alongside initiation of medical management. A thorough clinical and nutritional assessment is required in order to determine the best fit feeding method during the admission period, with regular monitoring of the diet plans` outcomes, and modification of feeding modalities and diet plans in a timely manner.
∎ The Clinical Nutritionist/ Dietician will support the nutritional management for the critically ill patients with COVID-19 in the ICU, HDU and Severe Ward at the Sadar hospital in Cox`s Bazar.
∎ Contract Duration: Initially 3 Months (with possibility of extension subject to program need)
∎ Expected Joining: At earliest
∎ Job Location: District Sadar Hospital, Cox`s Bazar.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develop individual patient nutrition support plans including the determination of feeding methods, appropriate feeds, calculation of feeds, monitoring of food intake and nutrition status for each patient
∎ Follow up with the nursing staff to ensure administration of the feeds as prescribed
∎ Provide appropriate and timely advice to the ward in charge on patients' nutritional requirements
∎ Ensure that necessary nutrition supplies are in adequate stocks and communicate with ward in - charge as relevant
∎ Support the case management review sessions in collaboration with the ICU clinical staff based on the current case management plan
∎ Conduct on the job trainings for the ICU staff on nutrition support for critically ill patients
∎ Carry out nutrition assessment and referrals for patients on discharge, maintaining a referral pathway, where available
∎ Provide remote support to SARI ITCs (Ukhiya RI and Kutapalong FH-MTI) on nutritional care of patients based on need

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years of work experience in a hospital setting and ICU/HDU/CCU/Critical care
∎ Knowledge and experience in the Public health sector/ Medical emergencies/ Humanitarian crisis will be added advantages
∎ Ability to work effectively under pressure in hardship situations and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds
∎ Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
∎ Proficient in the English language
∎ English: Advanced
∎ Bangla: Fluent
Salary:
∎ BDT 100,000.00 (Gross Salary), Hardship Allowance- 10,000.00 & Danger Allowance - 27,690.00
