Responsibilities & Context:
HR Management
Lead recruitment, manpower planning, and talent management for shoe factory operations (cutting, stitching, lasting, soling, finishing).
Implement HR policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals and footwear industry standards.
Oversee employee relations, grievance handling, and disciplinary procedures specific to footwear production lines.
Administration
Supervise overall administrative activities including security (preventing leather/shoe theft), transport, and facility management for shoe manufacturing unit.
Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and asset management including chemical storage and tool inventory.
Maintain smooth coordination between departments (cutting, assembly, finishing) for operational efficiency.
Monitor absenteeism (high in shoe factories post-festivals), turnover, and workforce engagement initiatives.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with Bangladesh Labour Law and buyer Code of Conduct (e.g., DECATHLON, Walmart, Skechers, Clarks, Timberland).
Prepare factory for internal and external compliance audits including LWG (Leather Working Group), BSCI, SEDEX (SMETA), and social/ethical/safety audits.
Monitor workplace health & safety standards, especially chemical fume ventilation, explosion-proof fittings near solvent storage, and PPE usage (masks, cut-resistant gloves).
Implement Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for non-conformities related to adhesives, thinners, and leather processing areas.
Industrial Relations
Maintain healthy relationships with workers and management in a predominantly male workforce environment.
Handle worker grievances, labor disputes, and negotiation when required (e.g., piece-rate disputes, OT distribution).
Ensure proper functioning of worker participation committee and grievance mechanism as per Labor Act 2006 (amended 2013, 2018).
