The role of an Assistant General Manager (AGM) in a cutting department typically involves overseeing the cutting operations within a manufacturing or production facility. This could be in industries like textiles, apparel, automotive, or furniture production, where cutting plays a significant role. The responsibilities may vary based on the specific industry, but generally, they would include the following:

  • Ensure all cutting processes are running efficiently, including monitoring the machinery and the quality of cuts.

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure the cutting department meets production deadlines and targets.

  • Oversee and manage the cutting team, ensuring workers are trained and following safety protocols and procedures.

  • Ensure that all materials are cut to the correct specifications, minimizing waste, and maximizing product quality.

  • Track and review the cutting department’s output for consistency and to identify areas for improvement.

  • Identify bottlenecks in the cutting process and propose solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Ensure that cutting tools and machinery are regularly maintained, and any issues are promptly addressed to avoid downtime.

  • Raw Material Management: Ensure that the required raw materials for cutting are available and accurately tracked.

  • Maximize the use of materials by minimizing waste during the cutting process.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in the cutting area, including regular inspections and risk assessments.

  • Oversee the training of staff on safety protocols, machine operation, and best practices.

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the cutting department and report on productivity, quality, and material usage to senior management.

  • Work closely with other departments (such as production, quality control, and logistics) to align operations and address any challenges.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to cutting department staff, helping them grow their skills and knowledge.

  • Address any issues or conflicts within the cutting team or with other departments.

  • Ensure the cutting department operates within the allocated budget, focusing on cost-effective use of resources and materials.

  • Look for opportunities to reduce waste, lower costs, and improve the overall cost-effectiveness of the department.

  • Any Others tasks assigned by the management from time to time.
