Education:

  • Must have comprehensive, hands-on expertise in all aspects of Knit garment sample development, covering the full cycle from proto sample to shipment sample. 

  • Must be capable of independently managing the entire Sample Department, including manpower, scheduling, and on-time submission to buyers.  

  • Must have prior experience coordinating with Knitting, Dyeing, Merchandising, and Production departments in a fast-paced export knit factory. 

  • Expert-level knowledge of all knit garment sample development processes, including proto, fit, size set, PP, and shipment samples.

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and execute buyer tech packs, spec sheets, and measurement charts accurately.

  • Solid understanding of knit fabric behavior, GSM, shrinkage, and construction techniques and their impact on fit and measurement.

  • Working knowledge of pattern making, grading, and CAD systems used in garment sampling.

  • Strong coordination and communication skills for liaison with Merchandising, Buyers, Production, and Quality teams.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel/Word for reporting; ERP knowledge is an added advantage.

  • Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills under tight deadlines.



Responsibilities & Context:

A reputed and well-established knitwear manufacturing company in Bangladesh, serving leading international buyers, is seeking a highly experienced professional for the position of Sr. Manager / Manager, Sample at its Narayanganj facility. The incumbent will lead the entire Knit Sample Department, managing the complete sample development cycle from proto and fit samples through to PP (Pre-Production) and shipment samples. This role is critical to winning buyer orders, as sample quality, accuracy, and lead time directly determine order confirmation. The ideal candidate must have complete mastery of knit garment sample development processes and the ability to coordinate effectively with Merchandising, Buyers, and Production teams.

  • Lead and manage the entire Knit Sample Department, overseeing all stages of sample development including Proto, Fit, Salesman (SMS), Size Set, PP, Photoshoot, and Shipment samples.

  • Ensure all samples are developed strictly according to buyer tech packs, specification sheets, measurement charts, and approved artwork.

  • Review and interpret buyer tech packs, spec sheets, and comments; identify potential construction or fit issues at the earliest stage and advise on corrective solutions.

  • Coordinate closely with the Merchandising team regarding sample requirements, submission deadlines, and buyer feedback on submitted samples.

  • Plan and prioritize sample production schedules to ensure on-time submission for all buyers and styles without compromising quality.

  • Coordinate with Knitting, Dyeing, and Fabric Store departments to arrange timely availability of fabric, yarn, trims, and accessories required for sample development.

  • Supervise pattern making, CAD, cutting, sewing, and finishing of samples, ensuring accuracy in measurements, construction, and workmanship.

  • Verify sample measurements against buyer specifications before submission and ensure all deviations are documented and communicated.

  • Manage the sample costing input by tracking actual fabric consumption, trims usage, and SMV (Standard Minute Value) for handover to the Costing department.

  • Maintain a systematic sample library and record-keeping system for all buyers, styles, and seasons for future reference and traceability.

  • Handle buyer comments and revisions promptly, ensuring quick turnaround on resubmissions to avoid order delays.

  • Conduct pre-production (PP) meetings with Production, Quality, and Merchandising teams to hand over approved samples and clarify critical construction points.

  • Monitor and control sample development costs, minimizing wastage of fabric, trims, and manpower.

  • Identify process improvements to reduce sample lead time and increase the sample-to-order conversion rate.

  • Ensure the sample section maintains proper 5S, cleanliness, and safety standards as per company and buyer compliance requirements.

  • Lead, train, and mentor sample room staff including pattern masters, sample tailors, and finishing operators to improve skill and productivity.

  • Prepare and present sample department performance reports (submission status, approval rate, lead time) to senior management on a regular basis.
