Responsibilities & Context:

Research & Development (R&D)

• Assist recipe setting in developing new garment washing effects with new methods and finishing techniques in both Wet and Dry process.

• Support chemical formulation and recipe development and ensure maximum utilization of dyes/chemicals in washing process to save costing.

• Conduct laboratory dyeing and washing trials by planning, managing, and controlling of washing process and ensure required performance as per the buyer’s SOP in respect of testing.

• Develop new shade recipes and optimize existing formulations.

• Evaluate new dyes, auxiliaries, enzymes, and specialty chemicals.

• Participate in pilot production and bulk trial approvals.

• Recommend innovative finishing technologies to improve product quality.

  Laboratory Testing:

  Perform laboratory testing of dyes, chemicals, fabrics, and garments.

• Conduct pH, hardness, alkalinity, acidity, TDS, and conductivity testing.

• Perform shade matching and color evaluation using spectrophotometers.

• Test color fastness according to ISO, AATCC, and buyer requirements: Washing Fastness, Rubbing Fastness, Perspiration Fastness, Water Fastness, Saliva Fastness, Light Fastness, Dry Cleaning Fastness

• Conduct shrinkage and spirality testing.

• Perform fabric GSM, absorbency, and moisture tests.

• Monitor chemical concentration during production.

• Verify laboratory test results before production release.

  Chemical Management

  Maintain chemical inventory to a risk-free zone.

• Monitor expiry dates of chemicals.

• Ensure proper storage of hazardous chemicals.

• Prepare laboratory chemicals and standard solutions.

• Assist in chemical consumption analysis.

• Support chemical cost optimization.

  Production Support

  Provide technical support to Dyeing, Washing, Printing, and Finishing departments.

• Troubleshoot shade variation and washing defects.

• Assist for recipe correction of different types of washing process and process control such as Acid wash with dry and wet towels, Acid wash with stone, Acid wash with thermos-ball, Tie with PP dipping, Heavy stone enzyme wash etc.

• Recipe entry in laundry Management software (LMS) for chemical purchasing.

• Ensure Recipe entry in Environment Impact Measuring Software-EIMS for Impact measuring.

• Assist Garment Performance Test (GPT) sample recipe such as Development GPT, Bulk GPT, High Risk Chaina Test. 

• Assist buyer to get approval for shade band and ensure keeping records for every style.

• Ensure time, temperature, maintain right liquor ratio Before shade band running, PH and Tint recipe.

• Coordinate laboratory approvals before bulk production.

• Responsible for bulk production after shade band approval.

• Investigate production quality issues.

• Support Right First Time (RFT) initiatives.

  Quality Assurance

  Ensure laboratory testing complies with buyer requirements.

• Verify incoming chemical quality.

• Monitor process parameters.

• Support internal quality audits.

• Assist in corrective and preventive action (CAPA).

• Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs.
