3–8 years of experience in Maintenance & Engineering in a manufacturing industry.
Experience in the food, pharmaceutical, FMCG, nutrition, or process industries is preferred. Candidates with prior experience in a chocolate and soft drink powder manufacturing facility are preferred
Hands-on experience with production machinery, utilities, and engineering projects.
Experience in refrigeration will be added advantage.

Job Purpose:
The Assistant Manager – Maintenance & Engineering (Mechanical) is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment and utility systems within the factory. The role focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, reducing breakdowns, improving equipment reliability, installing new machinery, managing engineering projects and spare parts, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximise production uptime while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Maintenance
● Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for all production machinery.
● Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimum production downtime.
● Analyse recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
● Develop and update maintenance schedules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
● Ensure all maintenance activities are completed according to planned schedules.
2. Breakdown Management
● Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns.
● Perform root cause analysis (RCA) using appropriate methodologies.
● Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
● Maintain breakdown history and trend analysis.
● Reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
3. Reliability Engineering
● Monitor equipment performance indicators.
● Develop reliability improvement plans.
● Conduct vibration, temperature, lubrication, and wear analysis where applicable.
● Recommend equipment modifications for improved efficiency and reliability.
● Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance machine performance.
4. Installation & Commissioning
● Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery.
● Verify mechanical alignment, calibration, and operational readiness.
● Ensure proper documentation including IQ, OQ, and PQ where applicable.
● Coordinate with vendors during installation and warranty periods.
5. Utilities & Engineering Support
Provide engineering support for mechanical utility systems including:
● Supervise substation and electrical distribution systems
● Diesel generators
● Air Compressors
● DX AC Operation system
● Chilled Water Systems
● HVAC (Mechanical aspects)
● AHU and VRF systems
● Fire protection systems and factory infrastructure.
● Vacuum Systems
● Pumps
● Gearboxes
● Conveyors
● Mixing Systems
● Material Handling Equipment
● Nitrogen Generation Systems
● Water Distribution Systems
● Monitor utility performance and recommend energy-saving improvements.
6. Spare Parts Management
● Maintain optimum inventory levels of critical spare parts.
● Develop minimum and maximum stock levels.
● Verify spare parts specifications before procurement.
● Assist Procurement in technical evaluation of vendors.
● Ensure proper storage and preservation of spare parts.
7. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
● Prepare Annual Preventive Maintenance Plans.
● Prepare Monthly and Weekly Maintenance Schedules.
● Monitor PM compliance.
● Introduce predictive maintenance techniques wherever applicable.
● Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
8. Engineering Projects
● Execute factory improvement and expansion projects.
● Prepare technical specifications for new equipment.
● Review engineering drawings and layouts.
● Supervise fabrication and installation works.
● Coordinate with contractors and suppliers.
9. Cost Control
● Monitor maintenance expenditure.
● Optimise spare parts consumption.
● Reduce maintenance costs without compromising reliability.
● Support annual maintenance budget preparation.
● Identify cost-saving opportunities.
10. Safety & Compliance
● Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
● Ensure safe maintenance practices.
● Conduct risk assessments before maintenance work.
● Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000 requirements.
