Educational Requirements:
∎ Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the areas: Nutrition and food science, Development studies, Public Health and Nutrition or any other relevant degree from any recognized university of National and Private.
Job Context:
∎ Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) is a non-government development organization founded in 1958 by Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, an eminent educationist, reformer and Sufi with the aim of social and spiritual development of entire human community. DAM has been contributing for the betterment of the disadvantaged population through operating 35 institutions and also 8 sectors of development. Health & WASH Sector is one of the core sectors of DAM which has also been operating 9 institutions and 14 donor funded projects.
∎ DAM Health & WASH Sector is going to recruit a competent and self-motivated individual for the position of Area Specialist of its USAID Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activities (BNA) Project, based in Patuakhali or Barguna.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Primary Responsibility:
∎ Ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
∎ Ensure quality implementation of the monthly action plan.
∎ Supervise outreach specialists to carry out activities related to capacity building of vendors and market actors, awareness building for consumers and other stakeholders in the growth center catchment areas.
∎ Ensure close coordination and collaboration with Upazilla/District level government and private sector stakeholders.
∎ Coordinate, negotiate, cooperate and maintain a good relation with team members both in organizations and alliances.
∎ Provide technical support to Outreach Specialist/Growth center level for routine program implementation.
∎ Assist Technical Director, Outreach coordinator and Abt MEL Coordinator in developing systematic and realistic action plans to capture project lines on Nutrition.
∎ Support and assist outreach specialists as and when require.
∎ Pay regular monitoring visits with outreach specialists in GC and Communities.
∎ Be focal of 3-4upazila as assigned by the project management for regular communication and sharing of information, best practice documentation, etc. with the local level GO/NGO stakeholders like UNO, UH&FPO, LGED, DAE, Health, DPHE, DOF, DLS and other relevant government department and INGOs/NGOs.
∎ Attend formal and informal meetings at Upazilla and district level.
∎ Plan, organize and facilitate training program including training needs assessments (TNA).
∎ Develop and review training curriculums, training materials.
∎ Prepare all kinds of reports, minutes are timely and submit to TD.
∎ Secondary responsibility:
∎ Ensure documentation of specific work, develop upazila wise progress report and ensure submission to Technical Director and team on monthly basis.
∎ Support Technical Director in preparing quarterly, half yearly, annual and any other reports required by the management.
∎ Build capacity for outreach specialists to facilitate sessions on Nutrition related knowledge, skills and attitudes.
∎ Ensure qualitative data collection and assessment as per program requirements.
∎ Conduct mentoring visit and meeting with Market Management Committee (MMC), Business Association (BA) & Project related stockholders in order to ensure quality of project activities.
∎ Ensure availability of IEC/BCC materials to reach target groups.
∎ Undertake supportive supervision visits to project areas and provide on-the-job training to project staff members.
∎ Perform other duties as and when necessary/needed or assigned to you for the center Communication by email, maintaining the online BNA platform and Upazilla program update in DAM monthly newsletter and webpage via Technical Director.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age no more than 45 years.
∎ The candidate should have at least three (03) years' experience in a development organization of which at least two (02) years in a supervisory position of Nutrition specialist/manager in any international /or reputed national NGO.
∎ Specialization: Experience should cover Market system development approach, public Health & Nutrition, child and mother nutrition, adolescent nutrition, child stunting, generational nutrition behavior, nutrition education, nutritional epidemiology etc.
∎ Previous experience in the same project (BNA) will add value Work experience in rural and coastal contexts.
∎ Work experience with an integrated approach like WASH-Nutrition Nexus. Work experience in social franchising.
∎ Behavioral flexibility and emotionally intelligent with strong logical and analytical skills Ability to coach and mentor multi-sectorial partners.
∎ Ability to manage stress.
∎ Familiarity with USAID or other international organizations' methodologies to improve nutritional outcomes.
∎ Good understanding of development and nutritional issues in Bangladesh.
∎ Team building and interpersonal skills.
∎ Computer application skills including MS Office.
∎ Good oral and written English language skills.
∎ Motor bike driving skills with a valid driving license.
∎ Applicants must have COVID 19 vaccination certificate.
Salary:
∎ Tk. 56000 (Monthly)
