Job Context:
∎ Work Location: IRC-Bangladesh, Shamlapur Isolation Centre in Camp 23
∎ Reporting To: Deputy Director Programs
∎ Department: Health
∎ Expected Start Date: At Earliest
∎ Contract length: 6 Months
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Carrying out tasks directly related to the WATSAN activities such as construction and maintenance of infrastructures in the project according to protocols and standards concerning the operation of water supply, waste management and excreta disposal, hygiene and infection control.
∎ Ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the WATSAN structures and when applicable, of the medical facilities.
∎ Identifying, recruiting, training and supervising daily laborers or hygiene agents for WATSAN activities.
∎ Supervision of any difficulties, anomalies and problems that may affect the normal functioning of activities and tasks in his/her area of responsibility.
∎ Data collection and reporting, as well as maintaining up-dated files and records of assigned project activities.
∎ Being responsible for equipment, tools, and consumables, verifying that they are safely used and maintained. Reporting to the supervisor any need of renewal and the weekly/monthly consumption.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Relevant field to WASH development assistance.
∎ Experience of 2 years in WASH sector (same position or Supervisor position).
∎ Experience from emergency settings is an asset.
∎ Experience with computer software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Magpie, Kobo Collect etc.) is an asset.
∎ Frequent field visits should be expected.
∎ Should be available to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
∎ Must be available to travel on short notice.
∎ Should contribute to positive attitudes and team spirit.
∎ Previous experience with hygiene promotion and community mobilization.
∎ Applications are only expected from Bengali nationals.
∎ Good team leading skills.
∎ Must have good assessment, analytical, and planning skills.
∎ Good oral and written reporting skills.
∎ Training/counterpart development skills.
∎ Ability to work well in the field under difficult circumstances.
∎ Good English language skills.
∎ Familiarity with the culture of conflict and/or disaster- affected populations, ability to develop respect from a wide range of people and strong ability to communicate effectively on sanitation and hygiene matters.
∎ Good working knowledge in Bangla and English.
∎ Fluency in Chittagonian language is preferred.
∎ Fluency in the language of the working area is appreciated.
