Educational Requirement: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Disability Studies, Social Work, Developmental Studies, Inclusive Education, Human Rights, or B. Sc in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy with 4 years’ working experience in a developmental or Humanitarian Context. Preferred Master’s or expertise in Humanitarian context and Disability Inclusion.   

Required Competencies and Experience: 

  • Good knowledge and practical experience in Disability Inclusion, Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), and inclusive development/humanitarian programming.·         Experience in implementing and monitoring disability inclusion activities in humanitarian or development projects.

  • Ability to facilitate training, awareness sessions, orientation programs, and capacity-building activities for staff, volunteers, and community groups.

  • Knowledge of disability inclusion standards, accessibility principles, safeguarding, and referral mechanisms.

  • Familiarity with disability-disaggregated data collection tools, including the Washington Group Questions (preferred).

  • Strong coordination and communication skills for working with project teams, OPDs, community groups, and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to conduct field monitoring, identify gaps, and provide practical recommendations to improve inclusion.

  • Experience in documentation, report writing, case story development, and maintaining project records.

  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative in addressing field-level challenges.

  • Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Bangla.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).



Responsibilities & Context:
Working with Partners:

· Ensure partners have a clear understanding of the Disability Inclusion Work Plan and collaborate with them to implement its principles effectively.

· Providing disability inclusion capacity development support to all DFAT-AHP agencies. Develop and execute training program to empower staff within partner agencies.

·         Provide technical support to partner agencies by promptly responding to requests for disability inclusion input and guidance on integrating disability inclusion into critical tools and documents.

·         Participate in joint field visits alongside partner agencies. Provide on-the-job support and conduct monitoring activities to ensure the successful integration of disability inclusion practices.

· Gather and synthesize international best practices in disability inclusion and distribute guidance and resources to partners to facilitate the adoption of effective strategies and approaches.

· Attending and organizing different meetings.

· Collaborate with all partners of the DFAT-AHP consortium to support activities. This includes tracking progress against established outputs and indicators, reporting on achievements to the line manager (Inclusion Expert), and identifying areas requiring attention or action to ensure accountability among Consortium partners.

· Support for Preparing the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for Children with disabilities and on-the-job mentoring support to Teachers.

· Support persons with disabilities in getting the appropriate assistive devices.

· Prepare and execute the Capacity Building initiatives for SHG/DSC and persons with disabilities.

· Support CM for organizing and conducting the community awareness session.

· Tracking and maintaining the Project activities and supporting persons with disabilities in attending different project events.

Capacity Building:

· Develop and deliver training programs and workshops on standards, identification disability awareness, inclusion, and etiquette for staff, volunteers, and community members.

· Assist organizations in creating disability-inclusive policies and procedures. Review existing policies for alignment with best practices and legal requirements.

· Conduct accessibility assessments of different facilities to identify and address barriers. Provide recommendations for modifications.

· Create and distribute resources such as guides, toolkits, and educational materials on disability inclusion. Develop accessible IEC materials.

· Offer technical support to organizations in making their programs, services, and events accessible.

· Facilitate community dialogues and forums to discuss disability-related issues and promote inclusion. Organize events that celebrate disability diversity and culture.

· Organize advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about disability inclusion and combat stereotypes and stigma. Promote the participation of people with disabilities in advocacy efforts.

· Provide ongoing training and support to build the capacity of staff and volunteers to work effectively with people with disabilities. Offer guidance on reasonable accommodations and inclusive practices.

· Provide technical support to organizations that collect, analyze, and report disability-disaggregated data to better understand the needs and preferences of people with disabilities.

· Collaborate with AHP partners, different organizations, advocacy groups, and experts to leverage their expertise and resources.

· Share best practices and lessons learned with peers and stakeholders.

· Manage budget allocations for disability inclusion activities, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

· Empower people with disabilities through consultation, capacity building, and the formation of self-help groups or disability support committees.

· Develop and share case studies and success stories that highlight effective disability inclusion initiatives.

· Prepare regular reports on the progress of disability inclusion activities and their impact on the project outcomes and goals.

· Organize IDPD Observation event, mainstream events/awareness (water day, 16 days campaign etc. to aware on IASC guidelines and disability inclusion) with mainstreaming organizations and participate in different awareness programs with the Govt and other organizations.

· Link with any national, regional or local initiatives to support OPD leaders, when possible, to provide training to mainstream humanitarian organizations to include disability in their response strategies.

· In collaboration with Disability Inclusion Expert, complete narrative reporting as required.

·  Liaise with CDD’s rehabilitation team to conduct surveys, studies and improve the scope of inclusion in the internal program.

· Maintain regular coordination with CDD teams to share information on challenges persons with disabilities are facing in accessing services, develop joint solutions and share information on referrals.

External Representation and Advocacy:

· Participate in the Age and Disability Working Group (ADWG), other mainstreaming organizations and other sector coordination meetings to provide technical input on disability inclusion.

· Contribute to planning, implementing, and monitoring consortium project interventions in coordination with IRC, other organizations and CDD teams.

Professional Development:

· Identify areas for professional development and collaborate with Save the Children International to create action plans for skill improvement.

· Engage in self-directed learning to enhance skills and competencies independently.

· Seek feedback and necessary support to achieve skill improvement and meet objectives.

· Perform additional tasks as assigned by the CDD authority according to project needs.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

· Adhere to CDD's Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.

· Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.

· Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by the supervisor/line manager or CDD management.

· The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a non-profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.

· CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.

· The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its former Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.

· CDD is accepting application for the position of ‘Disability Inclusion Officer’ under a project named ‘Protection-Centered and Locally Driven Response for Rohingya Refugees in Cox’s Bazar’ funded by DFAT-AHP consortium led by IRC. The duration of the project is till 31 December 2028. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
