Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma or professional degree in a relevant field such as Civil or Environmental Engineering or Water and Sanitation

Job Context:

∎ The Water and Habitat Technician will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Water & Habitat Delegate in the ICRC`s Office in Cox`s Bazar.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Develops project documents (drawings, bills of quantities, contracts, etc.) for small or non-complex engineering projects using approved formats; monitors project implementation for compliance with project documents, ICRC standards, and local building codes/standards, ensuring corrective action is taken where necessary.
∎ Participates in needs assessment of environmental health (WASH and construction) for ICRC humanitarian activities in Cox's Bazar
∎ Participates in project designing and technical elements (surveying, bill of quantities, time table, constraints)
∎ Organizes and supervises the implementation and monitoring of technical projects according to ICRC administrative procedure to ensure quality of the projects
∎ Organizes the handover of projects and train end-users on maintenance and use of installations
∎ Maintains a network of interlocutors, contractors, beneficiaries and their representatives at community level
∎ Prepares frequent progress reports and field visit reports
∎ Translates documents for internal use and interprets upon request

Additional Requirements:
∎ Good command of English (written and spoken)
∎ Excellent knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Office package and PowerPoint
∎ Professional requirements:
∎ Work experience: preferably 02 years of proven professional experience in similar jobs in the engineering sector
∎ Work experience: At least one site engineer contract to supervise technical work including civil structures, plumbing and electrical components. Benefit given to candidates that independently produce drawings, calculation sheets, bills of quantities and payment requests.
∎ Knowledge required: Water supply, sanitation, construction, emergency preparedness and response.
∎ Personal qualities for the position:
∎ Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality
∎ Good communication, writing and presentation skills
∎ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, respecting the established framework
∎ Able to define priorities
∎ Able to adapt to and work in team in a multicultural environment
