About five (5) years of experience in waste management or similar field,
preferably with about two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role.
Defence background personnel may get preference.
Ability to supervise and train others, and manage municipal waste management functions;
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, and maintain working relationship ;
Ability to analyse problems and provide solutions; and
Ability to carry heavy workload at night/ early hours, with movability within the zone(s).
Gulshan model town has 148 internal streets within its six zones, beyond the two main avenues. In cooperation with the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), the Gulshan Society, as part of its community support activities, is embarking upon cleaning its internal streets and footpaths, engaging initially 60 cleaners. Now, it will recruit a few Zonal Supervisors to monitor those cleaners.
Objective:
Oversee activities of street cleaners and vehicle drivers for effective and efficient waste cleaning, collection, transportation and disposal at designated sites to keep each street clean at all times.
Major Job Responsibilities:
Prepare schedule of work and attendance sheets, manage equipment, coordinate/communicate with teams, and monitor tasks of cleaners & vehicle drivers in designated zones;
Carry out inspection to ensure street cleanliness and waste disposal, complying safety standards;
Organize waste collection by Rapid Response Team and coordinate with other stakeholders;
Ensure secured storage, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment/ transportation vehicles. Monitor and replenish cleaning equipment/ utensil stock levels;
Participate in waste cleaning/ collection/ transportation/ disposal schemes route planning;
Identify training needs and train cleaning staff. Maintain personnel and other data records, evaluate and report performance of cleaners and vehicle drivers;
Consult and collaborate with DNCC street cleaning supervisors, temporary food stalls / tong owners, apartment owners/ associations, community groups, councillors to identify their requirements and provide appropriate solutions; and
Investigate and address complaints/ accidents (if any), and resolve grievances of personnel.
