Job Context:
∎ About Terre des hommes:
∎ Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is the leading Swiss INGO focusing on child rights. It is active in more than 30 countries with development and emergency projects. Tdh interventions are focused on the three programs: Health, Migration and Access to Justice particularly for vulnerable children. Tdh Foundation has a transversal approach towards Child Protection programming and it cuts across all the thematic areas while also has been considered as one of the key value propositions in its business model. The Child Protection expertise within Tdh Foundation aims to develop high quality, evidence-based knowledge and know-how adapted to fragile contexts, conflict zones, and development to improve the protection of children`s rights and their right to protection from all forms of violence (art 19, 34 CRC) in collaboration with and in support of the three core programs. The Tdh Foundation global strategy 2021-2024 specifies that the will have demonstrated that rights-based participation, empowerment, and active involvement of children and communities in defining and implementing responses are essential to improve child protection.
∎ Context:
∎ Tdh is working in Bangladesh since 1974, with operations in Kurigram district, Dhaka district and Cox Bazaar district. Currently, Tdh is implementing programs on Health, Access to Justice (social cohesion and conflict resolution) and Migration, integrated by the transversal expertise WASH and Child protection. Tdh interventions in Bangladesh are both in development and emergency context.
∎ Following the massive displacement of more than 800,000 people into Bangladesh since the end of August 2017, Tdh has put in place an important emergency response plan to provide relief to the Rohingya refugees, notably on Health, WASH, Child Protection and Social cohesion. Alongside, Tdh is implementing the CLARISSA project in Dhaka slums aiming to build a strong evidence base and generate innovative solutions to the worst forms of child labour (WFCL) and will explore how to take these solutions to scale.
∎ Tdh in Bangladesh has started the process of integration of emergency and development approaches and aims to capitalize its institutional learning for further programme expansion and to create critical pathways for evidence-based advocacy.
∎ Under the direct management of the WASH Infrastructure Supervisor, ensuring the effective implementation of the WASH Infrastructure activities, Solid Waste Management and Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) according to implementation guidelines, standards and procedures in order to contribute to the waste/excreta management and delivery of a qualitative WASH Infrastructructure activities in the area of intervention.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Facilitate the implementation of the project activities and ensure all assigned duties are carried out and that resources are efficiently utilized at all levels.
∎ Organize and follow up on the work of his/her department.
∎ Create a work plan that prioritizes repair, O&M and desludging based on urgency.
∎ Carry out need basis assessment directly, according to schedule and specifications at project areas.
∎ According to plan conduct latrine, bathing cubicle, drain, bin repair and operations maintenance and new construction works, as well as FSM/SWM plant repairs maintenance/upgradation works and desludging activity, which will ensure timely maintenance of quality.
∎ Closely supervise all daily workers & desludging volunteers work at field.
∎ Prepare the BoQs, and technical drawings as per need basis.
∎ Assist to prepare procurement documents for the request of quotations if required.
∎ Check the quality & quantity of ongoing works and vendor-supplied materials, alongside, updating site stock register regularly.
∎ Collect activities related to all kinds of data from camp & host communities by the KoBo and preserve properly.
∎ Update the line manager timely about existing field activities and what types of support needs.
∎ Support the Supervisor at the field level, other sector actors and the beneficiaries.
∎ Train the newly hired desludging volunteers/Dw’s with the guidance of the WASH Infrastructure Supervisor.
∎ Strong capacity to manage several teams DW, desludging volunteers etc.
∎ Supervise and monitor all implemented/implementing hardware works (Latrine construction, latrine decommissioning, bin construction, drain construction, FSM plant upgradation, bathing cubicle construction and operations maintenance) and ensure the works progress, according to timeline and works specifications.
∎ Ensure that the contractor safeguards the safety of his labors and the community people.
∎ Constructed hardware for more sustainable purposes regular coordination with the community leader, majhee and other WASH actors staff at the field.
∎ Conduct needs assessment on different types of WASH Infrastructure (as per project objective) and reports to his/her line manager.
∎ Ensure constant communication with WASH staff members to identify potential problems, formulate recommendations and solutions and report to Supervisor, as well as submit weekly and monthly reports within the timeline.
∎ This list of activities is not exhaustive and additional activities may be requested by Tdh management according to the needs of the project.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Proven experience with (I)NGO in relief context (3 to 4 years)
∎ Experience in construction for the rural structure communities such as WASH/FSM/SWM Plant
∎ Ability to accomplish assigned tasks accurately and by established deadlines
∎ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Auto CAD
∎ Fluency in the local language will be considered as a plus
∎ Fluency in local language will be considered as a plus
∎ Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
∎ Excellent organization and communication skills
∎ Professionalism and thoroughness
∎ Good capacity to work under pressure
