A Retail Warehouse In-Charge oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, dispatch, and inventory management of goods to support retail store operations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Inventory Management

Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP or manual systems.

Conduct regular stock counts, reconciliations, and audits.

Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.

Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) principles are followed.

Report discrepancies or damaged goods to management promptly.

2. Receiving & Inspection

Supervise the unloading and inspection of incoming goods.

Verify delivery notes, purchase orders, and invoices for accuracy.

Coordinate with the procurement or purchasing team to resolve supplier issues.

Ensure received goods meet quality and quantity standards.

3. Storage & Organization

Plan and manage warehouse layout for efficient space utilization.

Ensure items are stored safely and labeled correctly.

Maintain proper segregation between different product categories.

Follow safety and hygiene standards, especially for food or sensitive products.

4. Dispatch & Distribution

Coordinate with retail outlets for timely dispatch of goods.

Prepare and check delivery documentation (Gate Pass, Delivery Note, etc.).

Supervise loading and ensure proper handling of goods.

5. Staff Supervision

Assign tasks and monitor performance of warehouse staff.

Provide training on warehouse procedures and safety protocols.

Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company policies.

Plan staff schedules and ensure adequate manpower coverage.

6. Record Keeping & Reporting

Maintain records of receipts, issues, and transfers.

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and activity reports.

Support audits by providing accurate documentation.

Use warehouse management software (WMS) or ERP systems effectively.

7. Safety & Maintenance

Ensure warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallets, racks, etc.) are maintained.

Enforce safety measures to prevent accidents and losses.

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the warehouse.

Comply with local labor and safety regulations.

8. Coordination & Communication

Liaise with procurement, logistics, and retail teams for smooth operations.

Communicate any supply chain disruptions or stock concerns proactively.

Coordinate with transporters and suppliers for timely goods movement.

Skills & Competencies

Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy.

Knowledge of inventory control systems and ERP software.

Physical stamina and understanding of warehouse safety.

Problem-solving and time management abilities.
