Job Context:
∎ For the team of our "Study and expert fund- Innovations for Climate-smart Urban Development (INCLUDE) project", we seek applications for the position "Urban and Regional Development Advisor".
∎ Contract Duration: 31 December 2023
∎ Band: 4

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The position holder is responsible for:
∎ managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
∎ assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
∎ advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
∎ advise supervisor in the field of project's planning, steering and monitoring
∎ independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
∎ make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
∎ assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
∎ In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:

∎ The position holder:
∎ Conducts relevant studies on topics of climate-smart sustainable and future-oriented urban development in Bangladesh;
∎ Coordinates to design, organize and conduct project planning events (e.g. workshops, focused group discussions) at the national and local levels;
∎ Provides policy advice in the field of future-oriented urban planning;
∎ Coordinates in designing and organizing the data collection, desk research, analysis and reporting on the above-mentioned topics;
∎ Assesses and fulfil the demand of lead consultant for project preparation on topics of climate-smart sustainable and future-oriented urban development in Bangladesh;
∎ Coordinates with relevant organisations, government and non-governmental agencies, partners and individuals in the project environment and with other projects to build up and maintain good working relationships;
∎ Reviews and if necessary revises the different documents of project preparation following a participatory approach to make sure that all the team members get the opportunity to contribute;
∎ Searches for integrated and climate-smart urban development measures both in the country and abroad and suggests the suitable ones;
∎ Communicates with the organizations engage in integrated and climate-smart urban development to acquire necessary information needed;
∎ Coordinates with the other team members of the project whose working focus lies on aspects different from this position;
∎ Formulates job descriptions and terms of reference, select and supervise third parties in the course of carrying out project/programme planning activities, including performance evaluation;
∎ Makes sure to get the consent of the AV-V before taking any strategically relevant initiative. This is to ensure the consistency of the project advisory approach.
∎ Other duties/additional tasks
∎ Further specific tasks may be discussed and agreed with the AV-V;
∎ Gathers updated information on integrated and climate-smart urban development on a regular basis;
∎ Participate in working groups on cluster lever and on the country level.

Additional Requirements:
∎ 5 years of relevant occupational experience;
∎ Ability in conducting research on different urban topics will be preferred;
∎ Other knowledge, additional competences
∎ Ability to work well under pressure;
∎ Excellent skill presentations;
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
∎ Fluency in English is important;
∎ Familiarity with development cooperation;
∎ Ability to work in an intercultural environment.
