Professional Experience

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in applied statistics.
  • Demonstrated experience in health systems, epidemiological, or public health research.
  • Proven expertise in multivariate and advanced statistical modelling techniques.
  • Experience contributing to peer-reviewed scientific publications and technical reports.
  • Experience working in donor-funded research projects is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in statistical software such as R, Stata, SPSS, or equivalent analytical platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of epidemiological research methods and quantitative study design.
  • Experience in data quality assurance, data management protocols, and reproducible research practices.

Languages

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla.

Responsibilities & Context:

Division: Health Systems Research Division

Duty Station: CIPRB Head Office, Dhaka

Reports to: Director, Health Systems Research Division (HSRD)

Contract: 1 year, renewable subject to performance and funding

Probation Period: 3 months

The Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) is a nationally recognized research and implementation organization committed to generating evidence to improve public health outcomes in Bangladesh. Through rigorous research, innovation, and partnerships, CIPRB contributes to policy development and programmatic interventions in injury prevention and health systems strengthening.

The Health Systems Research Division leads the design and implementation of high-quality research to inform national strategies, policies, and service delivery models. Within this framework, the Statistician plays a critical technical role in ensuring robust methodological standards and high-quality analytical outputs across the organization’s research portfolio.

Purpose of the Position

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Health Systems Research Division, the Statistician provides technical leadership in statistical design, data analysis, and interpretation of research findings across CIPRB’s research portfolio. The position ensures methodological integrity, analytical accuracy, and adherence to international research standards to strengthen evidence generation and inform policy and programmatic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Research Design & Methodological Support

  • Lead and provide technical expertise in study design, sampling strategies, and selection of appropriate statistical methodologies.
  • Develop and review Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs), including sample size determination, power calculations, and analytical frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development and technical review of research protocols, concept notes, and grant proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical, scientific, and international research standards in quantitative study design and analysis.

Data Management & Statistical Analysis

  • Lead and manage data cleaning, validation, and preparation processes to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Perform descriptive, inferential, and advanced statistical analyses using R, Stata, SPSS, or equivalent statistical software.
  • Develop and apply appropriate multivariate and advanced statistical models (e.g., regression, survival analysis, mixed-effects models) aligned with study objectives.
  • Ensure reproducibility, transparency, and proper documentation of analytical procedures and workflows.
  • Strengthen and monitor data quality assurance mechanisms in compliance with institutional and international research standards.
  • Ensure secure handling of datasets and compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Reporting & Knowledge Dissemination

  • Prepare and review statistical sections of technical reports, research manuscripts, and donor reports to ensure accuracy and analytical rigor.
  • Contribute substantively to the development of peer-reviewed publications, including interpretation of findings and response to reviewer comments.
  • Develop and support evidence-based policy briefs, technical summaries, and knowledge products tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Present and communicate analytical findings clearly to internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders.

Capacity Strengthening & Collaboration

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior researchers and research assistants to strengthen institutional analytical capacity.
  • Design and deliver internal training sessions and technical briefings on statistical methods, data analysis, and best practices.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and methodological consistency across research teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across divisions to ensure integration of statistical expertise throughout the research lifecycle.

Performance Indicators

  • Timely delivery of high-quality statistical analyses aligned with approved study protocols and analysis plans.
  • Development and documentation of comprehensive Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) and well-maintained analytical datasets.
  • Contribution to high-quality technical reports, donor deliverables, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and effective technical support to research teams and stakeholders.


Job Other Benifits:
    Monthly consolidated salary of BDT 75,816. The salary may be negotiable commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Other benefits and entitlements will be provided in accordance with CIPRB`s HR policies.
