  • Knowledge of agriculture, climate-resilient farming, livelihood development.

  • Experience in community mobilization and stakeholder engagement.

  • Good communication, facilitation, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently in field-based settings.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh is a non-governmental social development organisation that provides care and support to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing parental care and are deprived of a caring family environment. SOS Children’s Villages operate in 136 countries and territories worldwide. In Bangladesh, we have been working since 1972 and presently have programmes in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Chattogram, Bogura, Sylhet, Bagerhat, Kurigram and Gazipur.
Our Programmes contribute to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a special focus on our target group to improve the national social protection system, fighting inequalities, promoting access to quality education, strengthening youth employability and ending violence against children.
The Floating Garden Project aims to strengthen food security and increase household income for climate-vulnerable farming families in flood-prone Sylhet through floating garden cultivation and the establishment of a sustainable, member-owned cooperative. The project priorities smallholder and marginal farmers, with particular focus on women farmers, women-headed households and youth.
Project Name: Floating Garden Project
Nature of Job: Fixed Term Contract for One Year (Yearly renewable based on performance)
Project Duration: Up to the 30 April 2029
Job Purpose: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the effective implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of the Floating Garden Project in Sylhet. The role aims to strengthen food security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods of vulnerable farming households through floating agriculture while ensuring community participation, gender equality, youth engagement, and child safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and monitor project activities in accordance with approved work plans and budgets.

  • Mobilize and support project participants, ensuring a child-focused and community-centered approach.

  • Coordinate training, technical support, and distribution of project inputs related to floating agriculture and livelihood development.

  • Support the establishment and strengthening of farmer groups and cooperatives.

  • Conduct regular field visits and monitor project progress against targets and indicators.

  • Maintain accurate project records and support data collection, documentation, and reporting.

  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the business plan, entrepreneurship development.

  • Design and conduct supply side studies on livelihood and value chain analysis, market analysis etc.

  • Identify, document, and explore replication of good practices.

  • Promote gender equality, youth participation, and environmental sustainability throughout project implementation.

  • Adhere to organization standards and regulations such as the Code of Conduct, Child & Youth Safeguarding, Sexual Misconduct Regulation (PSHEA) or any other policies/ regulations as introduced from time to time.

  • Build strong relationships with relevant government departments, like-minded and complementary organizations, and represent the organization in local NGO networks and advocacy initiatives.

  • Ensure effective cooperation with the local media to promote the organization’s aims and objectives continuously.

  • Ensure appropriate accessibility of village facilities to the neighboring communities.

  • Take necessary actions for special assignments and additional responsibilities provided by the Line Manager
